Calling all misfit writers and artists:
Black Market Lit is a place where your orphaned, outlawed, or neglected creative works can find their home. We seek stories, poems, and media unafraid to take chances...work that falls outside of what might be considered a “safe bet” for other lit journals. Maybe look under your bed and pull out the story you wrote for class but never turned in, or a think
of a genre you love but your workshop hates. Black Market Lit is an electronic journal and to submit to any of our categories, e-mail your submissions as attachments to [email protected]. In the subject line, please state your name and the category in which you are submitting. PLease have separate Word documents for each category into which you are submtting if you are submitting into multiple categories. If you have multiple submissions in one category, please place all of these submissions into one document. And please give the staff approximately one week after submissions close to respond. Fiction:
We will be accepting short story submissions up to 5,000 words in length of any genre. If you have it, we want it. Flash Fiction will be judged separately from other genres, up to 750 words. Poetry:
We accept up to 3 poetry submissions. Visual/Video:
We are looking for videos ranging from 10-15 minutes in length but we’re flexible. However, please nothing over half an hour. Audio/Music:
We’re looking for songs and lyrics from up-and-coming artists. No more than 3 song submissions at a time please. Art/Photography:
We accept up to 3 art or photography submissions. Please no nudity, extreme erotica, or gore. In the case of multiple submissions, we allow no more than three submissions per category, and no more than five submissions in all genres. Feel free to submit into as many genres or categories as you desire as long as you keep the five submission limit in mind. Any submissions over this five limit will not be read. We accept simultaneous submissions. Let your imagination run wild and we look forward to receiving your work! Best,
