An Open Letter To The Discouraged Small Business Owner:

Dear Small Business Owner,
I know you. I know the struggles you face every day. I know the pain points that keep you up at night, the stress that weighs heavy on your shoulders, and the sacrifices you make that often go unnoticed. Are you in the “low views slump” on TikTok right now? If your views are stuck in that range of 200-350 views then you’re in that slump.
TikTok is being renovated and updated to work and look like a search engine every day. This means your videos need to be treated with SEO (search engine optimization) in mind. If TikTok is unable to figure what category to place your videos in that video is less likely to be pushed to more viewers. If it’s able to categorize your video it’s more likely to be shown to more people.
It categorizes your video in the search engine based of what you say in your video, what is in your captions, and what is in your on-screen text.

An Open Letter to the Discouraged Christian Artist:
The road is narrow. It’s hard. Sometimes it’s frustrating and causes feelings of defeat.
Some of you struggle with limited budgets, a lack of bookings, lack of resources, issues with your sound system, vehicle complications, and personal struggles. For those of you that are on the road and away from your families for weeks at a time, or even just the weekends, you miss them and they miss you. You miss a lot of experiences and moments with your spouses, your kids, and your friends. It all piles up and feels heavy.
But with all of that you’re building The Kingdom of God, you’re saving souls, you’re changing lives, you’re giving encouragement and hope to people who may just be at the end of their rope and the words they hear you singing give their heart the love it needs, the hope it needs, and the will to carry on. Your faith and willingness to push on with the goal of sharing the love of God and His message is changing individual worlds. It’s impacting lives.
Thank you. Thank you for pushing through all the problems and lacking and sacrifices to be a light in this world.

Tip: TikTok is basically a search engine, and search engines operate on keywords. If you go to your TikTok profile and tap on a video you’ll find this search bar at the top of the video. If it says “find relatable content” that means that TikTok wasn’t able to pick a category to place your video in because it didn’t have enough information to know what your video was about. If it says something related to what your video is about that’s GOOD! That means that TikTok had enough information to place your video in a category and it will push that video out to more viewers resulting in more views and engagement on your video. You want all of your videos to fall into a category and say what that category is in the search bar.
In order to help this happen your TikTok videos need to clearly have what your video is about stated in the caption, and the on-screen text, and you should also be speaking keywords about your video when you’re speaking in the video so your closed captions will have those keywords in them as well.

Using social media to post about emotional things is not always bad. Social media can be a powerful way to convey emotion, and relate with your audience. Sharing emotion and personal experiences builds trust with the viewer and with your followers because it lets them k or you’re real and you can relate to them.
This reel is an example of how to share emotional experiences on social media. This reel is a story about an event I photographed at an elementary school. The eventwe was a morning that moms came to the school and had muffins with their children for breakfast. I took a photo of every child with their mom that morning. There were close to three kids and their moms. Two days after this event was Mother’s Day, and sadly, was the day one of the childrens’ mom had passed away. Now that child has that photo from the school event to remember their mom with. The point of the reel was to tell about an experience I had that showed how powerful a photo can be and why photos should not be under valued. Almost every comment on this reel is from someone sharing an experience they had with their mom and how they only have the photos to remember her now, or how they wish they had photos of their mom to remember her. This story is relatable! It’s emotional.

YouTube recently spoke about the new priorities they have for 2023 that are focused on supporting YouTube Creators.
Here a few new things they’ll be focusing on this year:
1.) “Supporting the success of Creators”: YouTube will be introducing more ways for Creators to make money on the platform including channel memberships, live-streaming options (probably something similar to gifts on TikToks and reels and Stars on Facebook), and adding more in shopping options. YouTube will also be enhancing their accessibility to users who are deaf or hard of hearing.

2.) “Building for the YouTube of the future”: YouTube already has YouTube TV and Primetime Channels where you can watch TV shows, movies, and live sports. YouTube is making streaming a bigger focus for Creators giving them new ways to build and connect with their communities.
“Additionally, YouTube will focus on AI-generated technology to expand storytelling and raise production value in creator content.

From simulated backgrounds to virtually “swapping outfits,” creators will be able to experiment with AI’s capabilities — whether it’s via Shorts, podcasts, and more.”

3.) “Protecting the YouTube community”: YouTube will be putting a focus on making the platform safer for kids and the young generation to use and explore. This makes sense as kids are spending more time on YouTube.

Do you know that you CANNOT “break”, “hack”, or trick a social media algorithm?
Anyone who tells you they can help you gain followers, views, clients, or reach by “breaking”, “hacking”, or ”tricking” the algorithm is being dishonest with you.
Social media algorithms learn from you, the followers you have, and your engagement.
They learn what you’re interested in based on what and/or who you interact with on that social platform. It works that way with friends you have and with pages you follow.
If you’re a content creator, business, or artist the best advice I can give you to do better on social media is: make content that is interesting, relatable, and engagement worthy.
The more that people engage with your content, and often, the more that platform will push your content to other users because the algorithm sees it as interesting content that is keep people on the app and thinks “we need more people to see this so they stay on the app longer.”
