We stuck around here on Facebook to share all of the stories of the Great Lakes Bay Region, but alas ... it is time to wrap things up. Midland's Open Door is still planning on serving Thanksgiving meals this year! This year, both meals will be served grab-and-go using the front porch of the men’s crisis shelter located at 412 W. Buttles St.

A traditional turkey dinner will be provided during the lunchtime hours of 11:30am-1:30pm on Wednesday, Nov. 25. On Thanksgiving Day, Open Door will serve its annual Thanksgiving tradition: an Italian feast. Dinner will be served from 6-7pm.

This year, Midland’s Open Door has experienced a 30% increase in meal demand due to the pandemic and the aftermath of local flooding. All meals, including the holiday menu, are free of charge, and are provided and prepared by members of the generous community.
