to share a special evening of music, laughter, and unforgettable
memories at the Denim and Diamonds: Daddy-Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 8th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Baxley Church of God Social Hall.
This heartwarming event aims to strengthen the bond between
fathers and daughters by creating a night filled with dancing and joy. Organizers emphasize the importance of spending quality time together, cherishing the little moments that build lasting
relationships.
Attendees are encouraged to dress to match the theme—dads in
their favorite denim and daughters in their prettiest dresses. The
evening will feature a live DJ, dancing, refreshments, and a photo
booth to capture special memories.
Tickets are priced at $20 per Daddy-Daughter duo, with an

After examining multiple county roads and seeing the moisture/snow still in place, and the potential for refreeze tonight due to extremely low temperatures, all County offices will remain closed on Thursday, January 23rd, 2025. Multiple crews with the Road Department are working hard to decrease the amount of ice buildup on asphalt roads; please keep them in your prayers; stay safe and stay warm.

School Closure Announcement for Thursday, January 23

Due to icy road conditions and the hazards associated with transportation, there will be no school for Appling County Schools’ students and staff tomorrow, Thursday, January 23. The safety of our students and staff is our top priority.

The Emergency Management Agency (EMA) has cautioned against travel in these conditions, and we strongly encourage everyone to stay off the roads if possible.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as needed. Please stay informed by checking School Messenger, text alerts, the district website, and our official social media channels for any additional announcements.

NOTICE FROM APPLING COUNTY COMMISSIONERS….

Appling County offices will close at 12 noon tomorrow in preparation of the winter storm event to allow for its employees and residents to get home safely and off the roadways. The offices will remain closed on Wednesday 1/22/25. We expect our area to have the potential to see conditions deteriorate as the day on Tuesday progresses.

The safety and well being of our employees and residents are our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding during this time.

Over the next few days we still anticipate to have the potential to experience below freezing temperatures and a wintery mix of freezing rain, ice and snow. It is essential to be aware of the potential hazards that may arise and take necessary precautions.

We urge our residents to PLEASE limit unnecessary travel as we will have crews preparing our bridges and roadways for this winter storm event. Our local agencies and partners are continuing to closely monitor the weather conditions and will continue to provide information. Please stay safe and prepared during this winter storm event.

In response to the county's request that all vehicles be off the roads by 12:00 noon on Tuesday, January 21, to allow crews to safely salt and prepare the roads for anticipated winter weather, the Appling County School System will be closed on Tuesday, January 21, and Wednesday, January 22.

The forecasted winter weather, which includes the potential for ice and snow, is expected to create hazardous road conditions, making it unsafe to transport students and staff to and from school.

We will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and will resume school operations as soon as travel conditions improve and are deemed safe. Updates will be provided through the School Messenger and phone system, as well as our social media channels and district website.

The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our highest priority. Stay safe and warm!
