Happy December, friends! ❄️❄️❄️

This month, we’re cutting back on our usual post schedule to make room for a bit of holiday magic ✨️ and creativity behind the scenes ✍️. While you’ll still see updates on new releases and preorders, as well as some festive bookish fun , we’re embracing a slower pace for the season.

In this last Wild post for the year, we found a doo-doozy! Our children's book author, Don Sager, appears ready to ... uhhhhm ... take the throne?

Fun facts:
Dunbar is small West Virginia town that divides itself by way of train tracks into the Hillside Rams and the River Rats for the annual football game. A parade always precedes the game, which is the longest running sandlot football game in the USA.

Admission to the game is cans of food they give to a local food bank.

Don has been attending the Commode Bowl festivities since 1994. What a wildly wonderful tradition!

When Theory's not dreaming up witty banter or delightfully awkward heroines, she can be found treasure-hunting at garage sales, losing track of time in hot springs, or devouring books on a sunny Hawaiian beach (mentally—she's a champion daydreamer). Her road trips 🚘 are legendary (mostly for the playlists) and her rock collection is so vast it's practically auditioning for its own rom-com subplot. Wherever she goes, inspiration follows, and she's always ready with a pen in hand (or five—because stationery is no laughing matter).

A man of many trades! Artist, writer, and retired school teacher. 👨‍🏫 Rick Sanders has worked with us for over decade as author, children's book illustrator, and general sounding board.

Rick Sanders has been creating art since he was a child, and he got his first camera when he was only seven years old. He earned a master’s degree in art education in 1985, which led him to become proficient in a variety of media in order to teach art. He has taught students from preschools to colleges and adult education. His two great loves as an artist are oil painting and photography, but he also excels in pastels, pen-and-ink, charcoal, colored-pencil drawing, and mixed media. 🎨

He has shown his work across the United States and is an award-winning artist. Copies of his artwork have been distributed worldwide. He also illustrates children’s books and book covers. 🖌️

Rick has written for years, eventually publishing Strange Times in Yeehaw Junction and The Walking Bridge. The Darkest Place is his third novel, and he is featured in an anthology of flash fiction: Verve Flash: The Short Road to Big Fiction. Now he also uses his imagination to paint pictures with words.

We’d hoped to find our author Sharyn Bradford Lunn in her home country of Australia for our Wild Wednesday post, but not this time! 🇦🇺

She was living it up at The Fort in Morrison, Colorado, with one of her fan-girl readers, Janette Palenius. ⛰️ They partook in the Rocky Mountain Oysters, by the way—"the last thing that jumps over the fence,” according to the menu! Doh! 🦪

I’m not sure we can top this perfectly wild post, but we’ll continue to scour the globe and deliver the news straight to you!
