Don’t look down! Just lying down on a sheet of glass 142 stories up on the CN Tower in Toronto. Spent the last few days laughing, walking miles (or is it kilometers?), and exploring Niagara Falls and Toronto with some of my favorite people. 🇨🇦

Only knowing a few Spanish words, I found myself last week in the Dominican Republic getting frustrated because I couldn’t connect with the children. Until I remembered my clowning days…. 🤡

I learned how to make a horn noise when I was 13 years old and 30 years later that little party tick came in handy.

Nothing is ever wasted with God. I would never have dreamed that my little side hustle of clowning for children’s birthday parties decades ago would be what God used to connect me to children in the DR.

Also, showed them how I can “take off my thumb”. Their minds were blown. 😉

Dyslexia isn’t an excuse but the reason why you have to be the hardest working person in the room. I have told my girls this statement so many times throughout their lives. But to be honest, as a parent seeing your child struggle isn’t easy. I wish I could move all obstacles from their lives. But our good God has a sovereign plan for our kids. It’s the bumps in life that He uses to mold and shape up.

Awards Day can be an emotional day for me because I know all of Suzie’s many late nights and early mornings persevering and never quitting. Homegirl even got the highest grade award in algebra! (one of her toughest subjects). However, it’s not the grade that I’m proud of but her work ethic and willingness to do the hard things in life.

Yes… I still wish that I could wave my magic wand and make life easier for her, but I can also see how the Lord is using dyslexia to draw her even closer to Him.

Ellie picked these flowers for me. Every time she gives me an item that she finds (a rock, stick, seashell, or wild flowers), I wonder if it would be the last one. I love reaching into my pockets and finding a handful of treasures she thought was the prettiest thing she has ever found. One of the sweetest parts of this stage! 🥰

At the Sparrow’s Nest Banquet last night, Bobby shared how he went from living in a tent to now having a home — and the sense of accomplishment he feels being able to turn on his water and eat his food. I love how Sparrow’s Nest is helping people to break the poverty cycle. It’s a wonderful ministry that I’m thankful is serving Athens. Thank you Sparrow's Nest Athens for allowing me to be a part of your banquet every year.

We are so proud of Ellie. She did her 4H presentation on dyslexia and got 1st place 🏆. But that’s not why I’m proud. I’m proud because she did a hard thing (public speaking) and how she embraces her differences. It took me a long time to do that with my own dyslexia. So thankful that, at such a young age, she realizes dyslexia is what makes her unique and special, and God has a plan for her life.

How cute and precious are these kids sporting their JOY FM shirts?! I had the opportunity to speak about God’s purpose in their lives to the lower school at Westminster Christian Academy this morning. The Great Commission — God wants us to tell others about Jesus wherever we are.

Growing up in South Georgia, I didn’t realize that most people didn’t just run into former Presidents while eating out or shopping. One of my coolest memories of Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter was watching her work so hard sun up to sun down building a house in Mexico. Her passion and work ethic was impressive.

I was telling Suzie the other day just how proud of her that I am. She couldn’t understand why because school had only just started. I had the opportunity to explain to her that it’s not about WHAT she does… rather, it’s WHO she is that makes me proud.

Having a front row seat to seeing God develop her into an amazing young woman is one of the biggest gifts in life. Happy Birthday, Suzie. You are loved by so many, but the most importantly, you’re loved by God.
