A few weeks ago, I had our baby boy. It was such a tough pregnancy, and I was bursting with excitement to finally bring our little one home. Everything was set; Tom, my husband, was supposed to pick us up from the hospital and drive us home.

I thought I'd take this to my grave, but here we are... I had terrible parents, so I promised myself I'd never walk out on my own child. When my first kid was 2 years old, my wife cheated on me, and it crushed me. She was the primary breadwinner at the time, and I had to move out of our upper-middle-class house into an apartment...

My grandpa has been battling Alzheimer's for quite some time now, so our family has gotten used to him forgetting names and people in general. Sometimes he even forgets that I’m his granddaughter. At first, it hurt, but it became our new normal over time. Last week, we had a little backyard BBQ to celebrate his birthday.

For Grandpa, any birthday party is a surprise party now, but we tried to make it special by inviting people we thought he’d be happy to see. Alright, so every year, my friends and I plan a big group trip to a fun destination. This year, it was my turn to organize everything, and I was excited to take on the task. We decided on this beautiful lakeside cabin for a weekend getaway, and everyone was totally on board. The rental cost was $2,000 for the three-night stay, which broke down to $250 per person since there were eight of us.

I booked the rental and paid the full amount upfront, confident that my friends would pay me back as we had agreed. But as the trip got closer, I started getting excuses. First, it was "I'll get it to you next week," then "I just need to wait until my next paycheck," and eventually, some of them just stopped responding to my messages altogether. We were left with nothing, out on the street, and he DIDN’T BAT AN EYE! Gosh, it was really horrible. I swore I’d get even someday. I worked hard, sacrificing everything I had to make him regret it, even if he’d never see me again. And boy, I was so successful!
