Learn something new every day.

If you spent a long winter eating nothing but dry tree bark, what is the first thing YOU would opt to eat when spring finally arrived?

For porcupines, juicy new willow buds are a delicacy โ€ฆ The problem is, these buds grow at the tip top of spindly trees. ๐ŸŒฑ

Do they ever fall? Absolutely. Research has shown that skeletal injuries are quite common in porcupines.

Do they spear themselves with their own quills during these falls? Undoubtedly. Scientists have found that quills actually have antibiotic properties, likely in order to reduce chance of infection after they fall and quill themselves. ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€
