I had no idea, I feel like Lao community should do the same!

Hmong New Year is generally celebrated at the end of December and the beginning of January, said Thomas Xiong, president of Hmong Alaska New Year.

“The weather in Anchorage, Alaska, is not good at that time, it’s too cold. This year we planned to do outside so we can do more activities,” he said.

In this age of enlightenment for our people. There are 3 kinds of leaders.

1) The Visionary
2) The Mover
3) The Shaker

The Visionary has a dream of what the overall goal is going to look like. This person does not know how they are going to get there, but they will get there some way, somehow. They will go to hell and back to ensure their vision is done. Think big overall planning:

The Mover is the muscle they get things done, they make things happen. They cannot sit idle. They finish tasks to show progress; because progress means they are closer to their purpose. Think tasks, whether administratively or physical tasks.

The Shaker, the shaker is the ego to this team. They do not take no for an answer. Because they are connected to the vision, they will use their power of persuasion and doing things until they get that yes. The shaker not great at tasks, but are great talkers and advocates.

The key to each of these leaders is they serve a purpose higher than themselves. They all have a job on the side, they all have separate businesses, they all have other obligations— yet they put their time and effort in because of their belief in something greater than themselves.

These leaders are always trying to move forward, these leaders are trying to do better, and these leaders are always improving.

So you have to ask yourself after a big event like SabaideeFest, or The Lao Food Festival, or even planning Lao New Year. Which one are you?

Did you serve a purpose higher than yourself?
Which one are you?

I posted a video awhile back about how Sabaideefest is like a Mecca for influencers, and public figures. People are always running into each other grabbing photos and exchanging kind words.

I’ve already ran into the beautiful Juliana, a traditional Lao dancer, representing Kinnaly Seattle.

Sabaideefest was always more than the music and food. It’s been a melting pot where our ideas and influence mesh into something more beautiful. SabaideeFest is a platform for us micro and macro influencers to have a stage to showcase talents, and speak on things that matter. One of the unintentional things about Sabaideefest is the fusion of cultures and the modern day styles. I can’t wait to see everyone’s outfits.

The Lao and Southeast Asian peoples are experiencing a cultural renaissance. Or a revival of their identity post war. We are healing from our traumas and finding solace in each other.

I can’t wait to see yall there. Comment below if you’re coming, I’ll keep an eye out for you!

It’s normal to fluctuate through the year. It’s taken me some time to understand that. When I went on my mental health and fitness journey a little over a year ago. I learned there were three things directly affecting me.

Sleep, Nutrition, and Exercise.

The moment I began having better sleep hygiene, ate healthier foods, and did minimal exercise. It wasn’t long before I started feeling better.

It’s the holidays, so all I wanna do is eat. We’ve been on vacation so all family and friends wanna do is drink. So I indulge.

I’m back up to 206lbs and counting. I was about 180 a few months ago. But what’s more important than the number on the scale is your overall feeling. 206 now is not the same as 206 then. I’m definitely much healthier.

My mood is better. I’m not as lethargic and sleepy as before. Good God…did I just want to sleep all the time! The clothes are a bit tight, but manageable. I’m hungry all the time, but. Not binging like I used too.

Anyways, long story short is. It’s okay if you fall off the wagon. You did it once, you can do it again. At least that’s what I keep telling myself.
