Cy's Eyes on the Skies

Cy's Eyes on the Skies Cy’s Eyes on the Skies is the only weather show completely run by students at Iowa State University.

Cy's Eyes on the Skies is a student-run TV program produced by Iowa State's student chapter of the American Meteorological Society, providing viewers with regular forecasts and weather updates. Founded in 1999, the main purpose of the show has been to give those students wanting to pursue a career in broadcast meteorology a chance to practice their on-air skills and gain experience making weather

graphics and working with a green screen. As of August 2017, CEOTS has upgraded to The Weather Company's MAX graphics system. This state-of-the-art TV graphics computer helps students learn more about a career in broadcast meteorology than ever before. It does not matter if a student does not wish to go on-air as extra assistance is always needed to help with the production of each show with equipment such as cameras, audio and commercial server. During the 2017-18 school year, Cy’s Eyes on the Skies will be airing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30pm on Greenlee-TV (click on the live stream link above). The studio is housed in 171 Hamilton Hall and all are welcome. Cy’s Eyes continued its excellence into the following years and survived during the pandemic as its producers and dedicated members found creative ways to build shows remotely. We continue to strive for excellence in our program by helping students build professional reels and linking students with professional broadcast meteorologists in the field through conferences, TV station visits, and in-house workshops.
