Vancouver Police responded to a disturbance between a male and a female at an apartment located at 11716 NE 49th Street in Vancouver. Officers were advised that the male subject had set an apartment on fire and was believed to be armed. This investigation began on September 18, 2013, at 3:16 a.m., when Central Precinct officers responded to the area of Southeast 3rd Avenue and Main Street on the report of a sexual assault. Oregon State University said this week it plans to use a $3 million grant to study two groups of bacteria that result in millions of dollars in losses annually to the nation’s nursery industry. Researchers will study Agrobacterium tumefaciens and Rhodococcus fascians, which deform hundreds of common landscape plants, including hostas, Shasta daisies, petunias and pansies.
