Another one: The Government of Uganda has signed a contract with Turkish company M/S SUMMA to construct a 20,000-seater multi-purpose stadium in Hoima for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Uganda, co-hosting with Kenya and Tanzania, plans to use Hoima Stadium for AFCON matches.

The stadium, to be completed within 18 months, must be ready by December 2025. The Ministry of Works, supported by the AFCON Sub-Committee on Infrastructure, will supervise the project.

The contract signing ceremony, hosted by First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Mrs. Janet Museveni, took place at State House Nakasero on June 7, 2024.

The Uganda Police Force's Marine Unit has received a brand new Kayak Canoe Boat, a donation from the Uganda Canoe Kayak Federation, to promote water sports and enhance maritime skills. The donation was accompanied by training of eight officers in boat operation.

The boat was handed over to CP Simon Peter Okoshi, from the Department of Peace Support Operations, at a ceremony held at the Marine Base in Kigo, Entebbe.

The donation and training aim to prepare the Uganda Police Force for the upcoming East African Interforces competition. The Ag. Marine Commandant, ACP Eng. Lule Robert, expressed gratitude to the Uganda Canoe Kayak Federation for their unwavering support and partnership with the Uganda Police Force Marine Unit.
