THE ORIGIN OF LANGO

The origin of the Langi is obscure but it is generally held by a reasonable majority that they originated in Abysinia in Ethiopia. They are considered to be part of the Nilohamites (also known as semi-hamitic) group which includes the Teso, Kuman, Jie and karamojong tribes. The Langi in contrast of their fellows have adopted a simple Nilotic language (of mixed dialect). It i

The clan to the slain Minister of State for Labour, Employment and Industrial Relation, Rtd. Col. Charles Okello Engola has put a demand for blood compensation from the family of his bodyguard who shot him on Tuesday morning.

The blood compensation rite practiced by the Lango tribe is meant to rekindle the relationship between the clan of the minister and his bodyguard.
