The Police in Amuru district are holding a 40-year-old unidentified man for allegedly murdering his wife.

The suspect is a resident of Omee in Amuru district.

It is alleged that on Sunday night, the suspect picked a blunt object which he used for hitting his wife on the head severely hence killing her on the spot after they had picked a quarrel with her over unknown reasons.

Leaders praise Bobi Agribusiness Institute

Leaders in Omoro district and greater Northern Uganda are hopeful that the newly constructed Bobi Agribusiness Institute will help in transforming the agricultural sector in Northern Uganda and beyond.

The Bobi Agribusiness Institute which was launched on Tuesday is an initiative of Watoto Church and its partner Institutions like College of Ozarks in Missouri State in the US.

Agricultural Researchers Unveil Two New Irish Potato Varieties

Two fresh Irish Potato seed varieties have been unveiled in Uganda thanks to months of research by the National Agriculture Research Organization (NARO), and Kachwekano Zonal Agriculture Research Institute.

The varieties that have been named NARO Pot 5 and NARO Pot 6 are disease resistant, according to Jorom Kubiriba, the Director of Research for Kachwekano Zonal Agriculture Research Institute.

Fuel pump manager shoots himself dead

A fuel pump manager in the central district of Mubende trained the muzzle of an AK47 assault rifle on his own head and pulled the trigger to end his life today.

The Monday evening incident, sources and first respondents say, followed a distressful day for Allan Okello, who managed Oil Energy fuel station branch in Mubende.

The police in Gulu district have arrested 42 year old Jimmy Otto, a resident of Pwoyo Lunge Village, Atoo Hill parish, Paicho Sub County over defiling a 10 year old girl.

Otto reportedly lured the victim with chapatti into a toilet from where he sexually molested her.

Locals arrested Otto after finding him red handed in the act and later on informed the victim’s mother only identified as Sharon.

Pakwach district health department has embarked on an exercise against bilharzia, a major neglected tropical disease in the area.

Schistosomiasis, also known as bilharzia, is an infection caused by a parasitic worm that lives in fresh water in subtropical and tropical regions.

The three-day exercise which is expected to end on Monday next week mainly targets children aged 3-19 years who are at risk of contracting the disease.
