One of the special experiences I’ve had this September was meeting and engaging with the Head of Mission South Sudan in China H.E Amb. Semaya Monday K. Kumba.
The Embassy was welcoming and very hospitable that we were hosted for a fine dinner at the residence.
During the meeting with the Ambassador we were able to share insights and overviews of the work the Embassy, the advantages of keeping in touch with your country Embassy when in a foreign country and reason why it is important to know your Embassy in every country you visit.
In relation the Seminar, we discussed the the impact of the Seminar and how to open up more opportunities for South Sudanese to build their capacity through training opportunities in the People’s Republic of China.
The discussion further went on to outlining the important role media can play in extending capacity building opportunities to South Sudanese youth.

Just days ago I received a call by the organizers of the Seminar on Young Media Professionals for African Countries to have a brief meeting in their office.
I walked into the office asking myself what could be the reason I’m being called but hoped for the best.
Mr. Lee the overall organizer then smiled and appreciated me being active and passionate about journalism and nominated me to give an overall speech on behalf of all African participants on the closing ceremony for the seminar.
I was delighted and butterflies rushed through my stomach because I was able to leave a strong impression on the organizers effortlessly.
I took my time to prepare the content and composition of my speech.
Finally the awaited day arrived and I rendered my remarks with so much enthusiasm, boldness and I know I did it to the best.
One thing I realized is that people know so little about South Sudan and most of their perceptions are negative therefore each and every South Sudanese has a role to play in changing the narrative and perception of our country by the way we carry ourselves so always leave a strong impression of who you are.
All in all be humble and willing to learn even from the least expected things or people.
I thank God for his grace and sufficiency upon my life.🤎

The Seminar on Young Media Professionals for African Countries came to a successful end .
Started off by meeting new people and sharing knowledge
Attending lectures and learning about the new media and China’s current media sector and development from over the years, also learning the media innovative projects.
Visiting different media houses (Radio and TV ) across different cities/ provinces in China and finally having adventures and leisure trips around China. (not forgetting the new foods tried daily)
A resourceful and fun experience to keep memories but most of all knowledge from.

Organized by the China Radio and TV for International Techno- Economic Cooperation (CRTV)

Bringing 35 representatives from African countries in which South Sudan delegated 4 participants.

The program learning course content includes:

1. China's National Conditions:
Mainly introduces China's basic national
conditions and the general situation of radio and television, and the exchanges and cooperation between China and developing countries in the field of radio and television.

2. New Media:
Introduction to New Media, audio-visual language, multimedia information editing, new media information planning, network communication, mass communication.

3. News:
news writing, news interview, Shooting and production.

4. Integrated Media:
Introduces integrated media technology, introduction and practice of integrated media technology, new technologies of radio and television audio-visual equipment, digitization and networking.

5. Radio and television management:
mainly introduces the technical team and the process of field broadcasting, and the management of technical system

In the era of Digital Media and Freedom of Expression, Mobile Journalism could be a very useful tool as much as a very risky.
As we approach the 2024 elections Mobile Journalism could be used to promote information related to preparation.
Some may lobby and campaign for their preferred parties and misinformation or disinformation could become a vice.
Therefore urging all citizens and journalists to remain keen, alert and stay focused towards the goal of a “Free and Fair 2024 elections.”
