Man charged with stabbing St Joseph’s Church priest brought back to crime scene

Basnayake Keith Spencer, 37, was alleged to have used a foldable knife to stab Father Christopher Lee in the mouth on Nov 9. He was charged on Nov 11 for voluntarily causing grievous hurt with a dangerous weapon and remanded for three weeks for psychiatric assessment. He appeared in court again on Dec 2 and was remanded a further week with permission to be taken out for investigations. He was brought back to the crime scene on Dec 6 and will appear in court again on Dec 9 (Monday).
