ENG. Csobotfalva Chronicles: Driving Home the Sheep At the end of autumn, when it can snow any minute, farmers select their sheep from the common herd and drive them home. Trained eyes can distinguish their own from the many sheep that look the same and there is a special vocabulary for this purpose. The individual earmarks applied by each family also help the identification. HU. Csobotfalvi krónikák: A juhok elhányása Ősz végén, amikor már bármelyik percben lehavazhat, a gazdák kiválasztják juhaikat a közös nyájból és hazahajtják őket. A sok egyformának látszó juhot a gyakorlott szem meg tudja különböztetni egymástól és a tájnyelv változatos szókinccsel illeti. A gazdák saját jelzései, a füljegyek is segítenek az azonosításban. ENG. Csobotfalva Chronicles: Gathering the Sheep In the spring, around St. George’s Day, the sheep are gathered and driven out to pasture. Every farmer nicks the ears of their sheep with individual marks. Before the sheep leave the household, according to ancient custom, a chain is placed at the exit. It is believed that if the sheep cross this, their soul will be bound to the house, the chain will hold them back and they will return intact in the autumn. The shepherd pours a bucket of water over the gathered sheep. The water takes away any bad will, or curse, so that no harm will occur out at the sheepfold. HU. Csobotfalvi krónikák: A juhok összeszedése Tavasszal, Szent György napja táján összegyűjtik a juhokat és kihajtják őket a legelőre. Minden gazda egyedi jelekkel, úgynevezett jegyekkel látja el juhainak fülét. Mielőtt a juhok elhagyják a portát, ősi szokás szerint a kijárathoz egy láncot tesznek le. Azt tartják, ha a juhok átlépnek ezen, akkor a lelkük oda kötődik a házhoz, a lánc visszafogja őket és ősszel hiánytalanul visszatérnek. Az összegyűjtött juhokat a pásztor leönti egy veder vízzel. A víz elviszi a rossz akaratot, átkot, hogy ne legyen baj az esztenán. In collaboration with András Páll. ENG. Csobotfalva Chronicles: Work-Party to Build the Shepherd's Hut Csobotfalva village lies within the the boundaries of the town of Csíkszereda. The sheepfarmers of the village chose János Csibi and his son, Gyula as their shepherds. In April the farmers come together to build the shepherd's hut. In a great collaboration with Páll András, who, besides composing the film music, actively participated in the entire filmmaking process. Thank you, András! HU. Spined loach crawled in instead of weatherfish in the previous version of our Csíkszentimre short film. Note the difference in the shape of the forehead, the moustaches and the color pattern between these two loaches. We have changed the images to real weatherfish, spined loach excluded.
