The Healing With Horses Project.
Our first session on Saturday April 15, truly surpassed our expectations.
Sitting under 2 beautifully trees, the sounds of nature, the warmth of the sun, the plaisant breeze on the skin, the peace and quiet, all created the perfect setting for stepping into an other "dimension", a dimension where time and stress have no place and no meaning, and it is right there and than that all happens: the mind settle, the hart opens and the horses connect.

Every participant paired up with "their horse", the mind/soul connection happened, allowing even the most introverted participant to start their healing journey.
Paula, our on site Psycoanalist was than available for each person that felt the need to reach out for support and guidance on starting their healing process.

We at Rosa's Ranch have been blessed with the opportunity to live in this environment and with our horses 24/7, we know first hand how horses can help our minds, our harts and souls, especially in today's world where stress and social competition are king.
Our hope is to be able to help people, and our community to reconnect the nature and find some peace.

🥳🥳 We are very excited to announce the complition of our new and unique Horse Fun Park. 🏞️🐴

What is a Horse Fun Park?
It's kind of like an adventure park for horses.😄
Try log roll, stairway to heaven, bridge of doom, tunnel of love, the jurassic river, the ghost gait, the alien worms and more. 😁👻👾👽

A great fun and challenge for all riders and horses. Can be done on hand or in the saddle using one of our horses or you can come try it with your own horse.

The Fun Park it's also a fantastic exercise against the mental boredom or regular training, or for bomb-proofing any type horse.

Does it look to scarry? Don't warry, we can teach you the horsemanship techniques that will help you and/or your horse to master every obstacle like a champion.💪

No amount of training can change…

A horse’s raw personality- we can work with their God given personality to help them reach their potential, however take note of their natural tendencies from the start. That’s who they are and they are trying to tell you! Some horses hit the earth and are destined to make great non pro horses, some superstars in their game, some aren’t even destined to make the discipline they are bred for… This takes time to discover, but make sure you are aligning your goals with your individual horse!

A horse’s mental capacity to take training and their learning style… This we must respect and adapt to, but cannot change!

A horse’s heart and try! This is such an individual quality- we have had full siblings with completely different levels of heart and try.

A horse’s conformation- we can build muscles effectively, but if your c**t has a crooked leg- it will always have a crooked leg. If your c**t has a club foot- it will always have a club foot.

A bad mover into a good mover- again building muscle and structure into a horse’s body and mind helps, however their natural movement is a God given consistency throughout their lives.

Remember your horse is an individual with a very unique personality, mind and level of physical talent- your horse is not a motorcycle that we can tune up, park for a week and go win a race on.

Moral of the story.… BE A HORSEMAN- a realistic and educated one that never stops learning- if you can!!!

Please note that all behaviour needs to be taken in the context/ environment in which the horse finds themselves when you see these behaviours. Note that ourselves and OUR behaviour is also part of the horse’s environment. All behaviour needs to be considered in context ie. what happened prior, during and after and what is the horse's history regarding training, health status/injury and experiences with humans, other horses and various environments, etc.

If your horse is snoozing under a tree and yawns, most likely the horse is not experiencing fear. (Although they could potentially be experiencing discomfort or pain.)

If you've just done or are doing some groundwork, round pen work, ridden work, gone for a hack, or dentistry, bodywork, worming or vaccinations, or even just tying up and brushing your horse, you MAY see these signs and more. The more of these behaviours you see, the more likely that you are seeing a response to fear, stress pain, discomfort or frustration or a combination.

Change our behaviour, the environment, lower our expectations and review our training plans to avoid seeing these behaviours in a training or handling context.

All behaviour has function, it has a purpose for the horse, even if we don’t know what it is or understand it, horses behave in certain ways for a reason. They are masters of subtle communication and we need to learn to read those subtle signs and the big signs as well, not brush them off.

Also consider that if fear as been ruled out, that these behaviours may be caused by the horse's internal environment such as pain or injury, ie. always rule out pain as a cause for certain behaviours FIRST.

"Show the Ground to your Horse !"
What is the advantage for the horse to walk, jog or lope over poles?
“The main goal is to capture the horse's attention and focus on what's on the ground.
′′ It's an old axiom of horsemen: show the ground to your horse ". Reef training encourages the horse to stretch his neck over the shoulder and look where he steps. Thanks to the fact that he will have to lift his feet above the barriers and therefore higher than what he would do on flat ground, tendons and muscles - especially those in the hindquarters - grow stronger. Also, looking down and stretching the neck, the horse lifts the spine and surrounding muscles, thus melting the back. In short, the whole horse's musculature is conditioning and relaxing”.

Meet Peppy, she's one of our resident mares, 28 yes old and with a pretty difficult past.
Who knows her, knows that she's super sensitive and overreactive.

Let's never forget when........

There was a time when you were just happy to ride, happy to be in the company of horses. It didn’t matter if you could execute a perfect lead change or jump double clear rounds. You were just happy to have two feet in the stirrups and ears leading the way.

You didn’t care about having the best tack, the coolest boots, or the newest hi-tech breeches. An old ex-racehorse, your favourite, and wearing a worn out pair of jeans with a colourful t-shirt did the job just fine.

You didn’t spend the days between Christmas and New Year planning a heavy schedule of training sessions, clinics and competitions. You threw tinsel round your pony’s neck and went hacking with friends. The new year was just another 365 days to go riding.

Don’t forget that you started this sport because you loved the animal. You loved the rush of galloping across open fields and the serenity of watching horses quietly graze in the sun. You do this because there is nothing on this earth that makes you feel more alive than being on the back of a horse, so don’t overcomplicate it.

Enjoy the little things, because one day you will look back and realise... they weren’t little at all.

We created The Healing With Horses Progect to help people and horses, because horses have the power to heal, transform and empower people, and through this process they can also heal themselves from their own traumas. The horses we use are all rescued from unfortunate situations.
Private sessions are now available and our first group session will take place at our location in Santa Barbara de Nexe, sitio Agostos, on April 1st from 1 to 4 pm.
