Pakistan is opening new areas for oil and gas exploration through competitive bidding, which will push massive exploration activities in the country, said Federal Minister for Energy Hammad Azhar.

During a meeting with the Japanese envoy, he said, “Pakistan has significant oil and gas reserves and opening of new blocks will not only increase the local oil and gas production but will also help save a lot of foreign exchange now used for its imports.”

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador of Japan Kuninori Matsuda appreciated the government’s policies in the energy sector and extended invitation to the minister for the Asia Green Partnership Ministerial Meeting (AGPM) to be held in October 2021 in Japan.

Matsuda informed the energy minister that Japan has announced Asia Energy Transition Initiative (AETI), which encompasses $10 billion financial support for renewable energy, energy efficiency, LNG and other projects.

The financial aid is targeted at decarbonisation projects in Asia, such as
renewable energy, energy saving and conversion to gas-fired power generation from coal-fired power to help with energy transition.

The United States continues to focus on Pakistan for a military base in the region, although some American officials believe the negotiations have reached an impasse for now, The New York Times reported.

The US intelligence agency CIA did use a base in Pakistan to launch drone strikes against militants but “was kicked out of the facility in 2011, when US relations with Pakistan unraveled,” the report adds.

“Some American officials (told the newspaper) that negotiations with Pakistan had reached an impasse for now. Others have said the option remains on the table and a deal is possible,” the report explains.

According to NYT, William J. Burns, the CIA director, recently made an unannounced visit to Islamabad to meet the chief of the Pakistani military and the head of the directorate of Inter-Services Intelligence. US Defence Secretary Lloyd J. Austin also has had frequent calls with the Pakistani military chief about getting the country’s help for future US operations in Afghanistan.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) today recorded a trading volume of more than 1.5 billion shares for the first time in its history, as per sources.

The traded volume clocked in at 1,560 million shares in today’s session, which is the highest ever in the history of the PSX, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill said in a tweet.

Planning and Development Minister Asad Umar tweeted, “New daily traded volume record set on the pakistan stock exchange (PSX). Today’s volume exceeded previous record by 39 %. Market reacting to signs of sustained recovery.. Though risk still remains.. Also adding to positive sentiment.”

The Government of Pakistan has won the Reko Diq case. In December 2020, BVI court had passed order on the enforcement of $6 billion Reko Diq award against Pakistan. That has now be overturned.
All decisions against the Pakistan International Airlines Corporation are nullified. PIA also gets back ownership of the Roosevelt Hotel in New York and Scribe Hotel in France. The case was against the Tethyan Copper Company (TCC).
TCC will also bear the litigation expenses incurred by Pakistan.

Who are the possible buyers of Pakistan's fighter jet Thunder ? ?
Argentinian media says that the JF-17 Thunder & -35 remain the only two options being “evaluated with increasing interest” for the Argentinian Air Force program to replace its Mirage IIIs.

On the other hand, Malaysia has also finalised the PAC JF-17 & KAI -50 as the leading contenders for its program. Sources indicate that Iraq and Qatar are also highly interested, as well as Azerbaijan.
It’s no surprise that global air forces will be attracted to a fighter jet with features like an AESA radar, #/ PL-15 LRAAM, PL-10 HOBS IRAAM, HMD, CM-400AKG very long range supersonic maritime strike missile, GIDS REK standoff precision munitions and many other modern air weaponry as well as an advanced situational awareness suite along with dedicated electronic warfare and ESM/ECM subsystems, all rolled into one very easy-to-use 4+ generation multirole combat jet, at significantly lower unit and operating costs than the competition in this fighter jet category. With the first units of the JF-17A Thunder Block III being produced this year, we may see several air forces scrambling to visit PAC Kamra to realise the possibility of operating the platforms.

Pakistan's Ahmed Mujtaba aka Wolverine defeated India's Rahul Raju aka The Kerala Krusher in only 56 seconds in the first round of the mixed martial arts (MMA) competition ONE Championship at the Singapore Indoor Stadium on Friday.

According to a report on the championship's website, Mujtaba landed the first blow shortly after the athletes touched gloves as he delivered a well-aimed kick on Raju's lead leg. Without wasting any time, he came in again, hoping to land a punch but Raju deflected it.

The Kerala Krusher then bounced back, hoping to regain momentum but Mujtaba disrupted any such plan by landing another kick. Raju again "came forward with a pawing jab and then a wild overhand right" but Mujtaba blocked it and backed away.

The Krusher, however, refused to back down and launched a wild overhand right that was not only avoided by Pakistan's Wolverine but was countered with a "picture-perfect overhand right to the chin" that apparently disoriented the Indian athlete.

The blow put the match firmly on Mujtaba's side who landed a short right that sealed his victory.

"SIALKOT CLOCK TOWER or IQBAL SQUARE"

The Sialkot Clock Tower, also known as ‘Iqbal Square’, is a century old British monument that is situated in northern end of Saddar Bazar, Sialkot cantonment, Pakistan. The Sialkot Clock Tower was built in the year 1922 by Rai Sahib Ramji Dass of the British India.
This magnificent tower has been restored multiple times and is illuminated by lights, as the sun sets. This iconic tower of Sialkot is a main attraction for the visitors and being in the center of the city, it is the point for major gatherings, celebrations and other processions. At the top of the tall tower, huge clocks are installed by the RADO watch company, at all the four faces of tower. It is an appreciable, pre-partition piece of art and architecture that symbolizes the city of Sialkot. The northern side of the clock tower faces a pre-partition red brick building named “BISHMBER DASS & SONS FURNITURE HOUSE” that once belonged to a Hindu merchant.
The foundation stone of this monument was laid by the then, British General Sir William Birdwood Bart G.C.M.G., K.C.B., K.C.S.I., C.I.E., D.S.O. He was born in Kirkee (Khadki) near Pune in 1865. He joined army in 1883. At the time of the construction of this tower, he was Commander of the Northern Army of India. In 1925 he was made Field Marshall. He died in England in 1951.
MARBLE STONE ENGRAVINGS AT CLOCK TOWER
On the western face of the clock tower, there is marble stone, upon which the following lines are engraved :-
“THIS CLOCK TOWER IS ERECTED AS A TOKEN OF LOYALTY AND ESTEEM TO COMMEMORATE THE VISIT OF HIS ROYAL HIGHNESS EDWARD PRINCE OF WALES OF INDIA TO INDIA. ANNO DOMINI 1921-22 BY RAI SAHIB RAMJI DASS SIALKOT. FIDE ET FEDICIA”.

On the eastern face of the clock tower, there is a marble stone, upon which the following lines are engraved :-

“FOUNDATION STONE LAID BY GENERAL SIR W.R. BIRDWOOD BART G.C.M.C., K.C.B., K.C.S.I., C.I.E, D.S.O ON JAN 7TH 1922”.
