A 16-year-old girl has died after being attacked by a shark while swimming in a river in Western Australia.

She was pronounced dead after being pulled from the Swan River, in the Perth suburb of Fremantle, on Saturday.

It is believed the girl, from Perth, was riding jet skis with friends on the river when the incident happened.
Australia typically records about 20 shark attacks each year, with most in New South Wales and Western Australia.

There were two fatal shark attacks in 2021, and seven in 2020.

Historically, dying from a shark bite is not common. In over a century of records, Australia's shark attack mortality rate is 0.9 - less than one person per year.

Forecasters say the coldest wind chill ever has been recorded in the continental US as an Arctic cold snap freezes a swathe of North America.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the icy gusts on Mount Washington in New Hampshire on Friday produced a wind chill of -108F (-77C).

مراد سعید کا کہنا تھا کہ ’امریکی غلامی میں دوبارہ ہمارا سودا کیا جا رہا ہے لیکن ہم ایسے لوگوں کے خلاف اپنی آواز بلند کریں گے۔‘
’اگر آج پشاور میں آگ لگی ہوئی ہے تو اس کی تپش پورے ملک میں محسوس کی جائے گی۔‘
انہوں نے پشاور کے ساتھ اظہار یکجہتی میں لاہور اور کراچی سمیت تمام شہروں کے عوام سے باہر نکلنے کی اپیل کی۔

Paco Rabanne, best known for his perfumes and fashion designs, has died aged 88 at his home in France.

His death was confirmed by Puig, the parent company of his brands, which said he had "marked generations with his radical vision of fashion and his legacy will live on".

Rabanne gained global fame for his eccentric clothing designs.

Puig's fashion president, José Manuel Albesa, hailed Rabanne's designs, which he said "made transgression magnetic".

An alleged spy balloon spotted over the US is a Chinese "civilian airship" which had deviated from its planned route, China says.

US defence officials said they believed the balloon, seen above sensitive areas in recent days, was in fact a "high-altitude surveillance" device.

But in a statement, China's foreign ministry said it was used for "mainly meteorological" purposes.

China "regrets the unintended entry" of the balloon into US airspace, it added.

The object flew over Alaska's Aleutian Islands and through Canada before appearing over the city of Billings in Montana on Wednesday.

On 25 January, when mining company Rio Tinto reported that one of their Caesium-137 radioactive capsules had gone missing, Western Australian authorities faced a seemingly impossible task.

They had to locate a pea-sized capsule anywhere along a 1,400km (870 mile) route stretching from the Gudai-Darri mine in the north of the state to a depot just north of Perth's city centre.

Authorities sprung into action, mobilising specialist search crews to look for the capsule, with firefighters among those asked to foray from their usual summer tasks.

The planes were on a routine "operational flying training mission" when the incident happened, the air force said in a statement.

Both aircraft had taken off from the Gwailor air base in Madhya Pradesh, about 50km (30m) east of where they came down.
