was founded in 1988 (former name was Southern Philippines Amateur Radio Club) with the idea to expand the hobby of the radio enthusiast. The organization was legalized according to the laws provided by the National Telecommunications Commission. The idea then was initiated by the late JOVINO TAN (DU8JT), to group the non-licensed radio users and those interested in HF radios. The group was oriente
d on what HAM Radio was all about. Nightly lectures followed and with these lectures the group realized and understood the beauty of HAM Radio. Hanapia Moualil gave nightly lectures on air, and one amateur radio user came up to expound further the real essence of HAM Radio. We were also taught on the importance of FAR DISTANCE COMMUNICATION through High Frequency (HF) Communication by our friend DU8VSM (sk). The group tool a special qualifying examination at the request of the then Western MIndanao Amateur Radio Club and with the effort of about 100, non-licensed Radio enthusiast then became legal in their radio operations.
