The College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) celebrated World Tourism Month on October 10, 2024, with the theme "Tourism and Peace."
The morning session kicked off with a vibrant Parade of Nations, where 19 students represented various countries around the globe. Dressed in stunning costumes that showcased their cultural heritage, the participants took center stage to display their pride and passion.
Kate Paula Silvania, a 4th Year Block 1 student, emerged as the standout performer, winning the following awards: 1st in Ramp Modeling, 1st in Darling of the Crowd, and the prestigious Nationsโ Top Model title.
Aurelio Salazar, a 2nd Year Block 2 student, secured 2nd place in Ramp Modeling, Darling of the Crowd, and Nationsโ Top Model.
Meanwhile, Madlyn Caรฑaveral, a 2nd Year Block 2 student, was recognized for her outstanding Best Theme Wear.
Prof. Mary Ruth V. Datario, a faculty member from the College of Arts and Sciences, delivered a thought-provoking talk on Tourism Laws, emphasizing the importance of adhering to these regulations within the Philippine tourism industry.
In the afternoon, Kristine Conly Calvero, a cabin crew member from Cebu Pacific, shared valuable insights into the role of a Flight Attendant and the essential skills required for the profession.
She also discussed the Dos and Don'ts of being a Flight Attendant in the Philippines and provided helpful tips for tourism students aspiring to enter the aviation industry.
The Tourism Movers Society (TMS) recognized their new set of officers for the Academic Year 2024-2025, under the leadership of its newly-elected president, Jovelyn Reyes.
Students and faculty members enjoyed a lively Zumbayawan, a zumba dance session that brought everyone together in a spirit of fun and camaraderie.
