Last December 9, 2023, BUMS conducted its annual Gift-Giving activity at Camp Hiraya in Dona Remedios Trinidad in Bulacan. With the theme of “Sharing is Caring”, the BUMS team together with close friends and family made sure that the more than a hundred kids and their parents, enjoyed and made great memories as they played games, bonded with each other and received gifts and goodies to enjoy this Chistmas season.

The Nabas Wind Farm supplies clean and renewable energy to majority of the province of Aklan, which includes the island of Boracay. It is located within the Northwest Panay Peninsula Natural Park, one of the Protected Areas within Region 6, an important watershed in the island and habitat to various endemic species of flora and fauna.

Here the team from BUMS joins the local environment officers in patrolling the area, discussing the threats that they have encountered and inspecting the sites affected by such threats.

Dr. Alfredo Buenaventura is considered to be one of the most prolific composers of our time, covering various genres and forms of musical performances such as marching bands, symphony orchestra, operas and of course, Rondalla. His Philippine Medley Series has been considered the anthem of all Rondalla groups in the country.

The Bakhawan Eco-park in Kalibo Aklan is considered to be one of the most successful mangrove reforestation efforts in the country. At more than 200 hectares in total area, the mangrove forests help protect the shoreline of the coastal towns against floods and storm surges, at the same time providing for eco-tourism opportunities for residents nearby.

Here the BUMS team discuss with the officials and staff from the PENRO Aklan the challenges and concerns that they are facing as well as their efforts in addressing them using the Lawin system.

National Artist for Music, Dr. Ramon Pagayon Santos is a composer, conductor, ethnomusicologist, and educator. He is considered to be one of the main forces behind Philippine Contemporary Music.

The Tarak Ridge is located on the western side of Mariveles, Bataan. It is considered a major climb for mountaineers with an elevation of more than 1000 meters above sea level.

The team from BUMS, joined the Lawin patrollers from CENRO Bagac, to check the forests for threats, focusing on signs of the presence of indicator species along the patrol routes. They likewise discussed with the CENRO enforcement staff parts of the process of the Lawin system.

The episode takes us to the southern end of the Sierra Madre Mountain range at the Quezon Protected Landscape, and up north in the majestic Masinloc and Oyon Bay Protected Landscape and Seascape.
