CASians, alin kayo rito?

TOP 10 NA MGA ESTUDYANTENG PUMUNTA SA PASKUHAN 2023

Sino ka rito?

1. Estudyanteng may kasamang jowa

9. Estudyanteng ginawang fashion show ang Paskuhan

10. Estudyanteng update is life

Kaya, ikaw. Saan ka rito kabilang?

Kudos, Kule! 💙🪶

The WPU Collegian, WPU Main Campus' student publication, aimed high and hit the mark during the 17th Regional Higher Education Press Conference, bagging the highest number of awards in individual categories. Kule, as it is more commonly known, maintained its position as one of the most awarded pubs in MIMAROPA despite the three-year hiatus of RHEPC due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Member Alexander Escandor also obtained the region's highest points for an individual contestant, ending the event on a sweeter note.

Collegian's Editor-in-Chief, Mr. Marc Jason Autencio, who was the champion for the Editorial and Opinion Writing English categories during the RHEPC, was ecstatic. "This is my last year as a member of the publication, after four years of membership going on five this August. That's why I certainly gave it my all,” he said, delighted that all delegates from Kule placed in the top 5 of all contests they joined. “I am delighted that my fellow journalists and members won, and I am also glad to say that I won.”

Autencio has been Kule’s EIC since 2021, holding together the student publication in the middle of the pandemic. “This achievement wasn't solely the result of individual efforts but rather a collaborative one,” he said. “I take pride in the pursuit of truth and excellence in our journalistic passion, and I am thrilled that our dedication has been recognized. We are genuinely happy that all of our efforts have paid off. I genuinely hope and pray that the legacy of the WPU Collegian's mantra - 'Our pen upholds people's rights and welfare,Its ink reveals nothing but the truth,'" he said. "It continues to thrive even as we progress to higher competition and even after the new ones succeed in our roles. We are eagerly anticipating the upcoming Luzonwide Higher Education Press Conference in Bicol later this year."

In a Facebook post, Autencio expressed his heartfelt and grateful thanks to the people who supported the Collegian from the pandemic buzz to its triumph in RHEPC 2023, including WPU president Dr. Julie Hope Timotea P. Evina and other high officials, the WPU Supreme Student Council, their adviser Asst. Prof. Ma. Concepcion J. Cayaon, the members of the Collegian, as well as the members' families and friends.

Alexander Lopez Escandor, the WPU Collegian's very own cartoonist, was one of Kule's main pillars in this year's regional press conference, seizing various crowns in the graphics categories and becoming the region's individual with the highest individual points.

"And I want to make my mama always proud."

Escandor bagged the Comics Strip Drawing, Editorial Cartooning in Filipino, and Literary Graphics awards during the RHEPC 2023 to the delight of fellow Kule members and the WPU crowd.

Dr. Lovina Hamora, judge-lecturer in Poetry Writing English and Filipino expects the contestants to have deep output presentations of their literaries. Gusto ko makita na maglevel up sila," she said.

She anticipates that the pieces written will be rooted in their personal encounters and observations. "So, iyong mga piece na kanilang isusulat iniexpect ko na base sa kanilang experiences," she stated. Regarding the topic or subject matter, that is entirely up to the contestants, but she is more interested in seeing their presentation style.
