One (1) Communist Terrorist was killed and five (5) high-powered fi****ms were seized during the encounter of the Army’s 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion and members of Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) of combined elements of RHQ and RSDG, KR-Panay at vicinity of Sitio Mapa, Brgy. Culyat, Valderrama, Antique at about 09:00 AM, today August 24, 2024.

𝟲𝟭𝗜𝗕 𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗦𝗛 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗖𝗧𝗚 𝗜𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗤𝗨𝗘 ⚡️⚔️💥

The 61st Infantry (Hunter) Battalion, under the operational control of the 301st Infantry Brigade of the 3rd Infantry Division, Philippine Army, encountered about seven Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) members of combined elements of Regional Headquarters (RHQ) and Regional Sentro de Grabidad (RSDG), KR-Panay led by Jonh Paul Capio /THOR, Squad Leader, RSDG Madia-as Pltn, KR-Panay in Sitio Mapa, Brgy Culyat, Valderrama, Antique, around 09:00 in the morning of August 24, 2024.

The exchange of fires lasted for about 5 minutes that resulted in one CTG member killed and the capture of four (4) Assault Rifles 5.56mm. (M16) and one (1) 7.62mm. (M14), 15 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunitions, 82 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunitions, two (2) long magazines for M16 rifle, two (2) short magazines for M16 rifle and personal belongings.

The NPA killed in the encounter was identified by former rebels as John Paul Capio /THOR, the leader of the encountered group, 36 years old who hails from Sitio Kadingilan, Barangay Boloc, Tubungan, Iloilo.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Michael G Samson, Commander of 301IBde expressed his gratitude to the peace-loving communities of Valderama, Antique for providing timely information about the presence of the CTGs in the area. He also said that the Military together with the Local Government Units in Panay Island are sincere in pursuing peace initiatives to make the Island free from insurgency while development efforts are in progress.

“I am reiterating our call to the remaining members of the CTGs to abandon the senseless armed struggle which has victimized innocent civilians. Magbalik na kamo sa Inyo mga pinalangga sa kabuhi kag mangabuhi sang malinong kaupod Ang inyo mga pamilya. Handa Ang Inyo gobyerno nga magbulig sa inyo. Ari kami nga magapagpasiguro sang iya seguridad. Giyahan namon kamo padulong sa malinong nga kabuhi. (Go home to your loved ones and live peacefully with your families. The government is here to help you. We will ensure your safety and we will guide you towards a peaceful life.)” BGen Samson ended.
