It is with heavy hearts that we convey the sudden passing of our dear friend and brother priest, Rev. Fr. John Francis Frederick “Jeff” K. Manlapig, a diocesan priest attached to the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. Joseph (Bamboo Organ Church), and the current Diocesan Vocation Promotions Director. Fr. Jeff was called home to our Heavenly Father on June 14, 2024, after devoting 17 years of his life to serving the Church and its people.

Details regarding the final funeral arrangements and memorial services will be shared with all parish communities as they become available.

Please join us in praying for the eternal repose of Fr. Jeff’s soul and offering comfort and support to his family, friends, and all those who mourn his passing. May he rest in peace in the loving embrace of our Heavenly Father for all eternity.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.

Our Commission on Catechesis and Religious Education [ComCaRE] is again offering a DIOCESAN ONLINE BASIC FAITH FORMATION [A Lecture Series on The Catechism of the Catholic Church] with the following details:

- Open to all 18 years old and above and desiring to learn more about the Catholic Faith
- Every Saturday: 2PM – 4PM
- Classes starts on July 13, 2024 up to December 7, 2024
- Since it is thru Online we are accepting up to 95 participants only and on a “first come first served” basis
- Lecturer: Fr. Hansel G. Marasigan
- Certificate will be given to those who will complete the whole course

As we dedicate the whole month of May in honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, our parish will have a MARIAN PROCESSION as a culminating activity on MAY 25, 2024 (Saturday).

We are requesting our parishioners who have statues of Mama Mary to please join the procession. If you’re interested to participate, please visit the parish office for more information.

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our brother priest and friend, Rev. Fr. Crisostomo Magbitang, SDB, Rector and Parish Priest of the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Parish, and Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of San Martin de Porres. He joined his Creator yesterday, 25 April 2024, at the age of 61 years old and in his 32nd year of priestly ministry.

His remains lie in state at the National Shrine of Mary Help of Christians Parish, Better Living Subdivision, Barangay Don Bosco, Parañaque City from April 26 to 28, 2024 (Friday, Saturday and
Sunday). The Salesian family mass is in the evening of Sunday. The details regarding the final funeral arrangements and memorial services will be shared with all parish communities as they become available.

In this time of mourning, let us come together as one with the bereaved family and Salesian Society of Don Bosco to offer our prayers and support, and to celebrate the life of Father Cris.

Eternal rest grant unto Fr. Cris, O Lord and let the perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Obsession, however, is not education. We cannot control every situation that a child may experience. Here it remains true that “time is greater than space”. In other words, it is more important to start processes than to dominate spaces. If parents are obsessed with always knowing where their children are and controlling all their movements, they will seek only to dominate space. But this is no way to educate, strengthen and prepare their children to face challenges. What is most important is the ability lovingly to help them grow in freedom, maturity, overall discipline and real autonomy. Only in this way will children come to possess the wherewithal needed to fend for themselves and to act intelligently and prudently whenever they meet with difficulties. The real question, then, is not where our children are physically, or whom they are with at any given time, but rather where they are existentially, where they stand in terms of their convictions, goals, desires and dreams. The questions I would put to parents are these: “Do we seek to understand ‘where’ our children really are in their journey? Where is their soul, do we really know? And above all, do we want to know?”.
