OH HAPPY DAYS!I am just reminiscing my experiences in ROTC Units I worked with.
For 35 years as a Non Uniformed personnel detailed as Admin Clerk in ROTC Units under the control and supervision of 903 (MOC) CDC, 9RCDG, RESCOM, PA, I can recall that during our First ROTC Training day we conduct an ROTC Opening Ceremony Program for the AY with a Guest that is a product of the ROTC unit who are in the active service to inspire and show examples to the cadets what is normally expected if you graduated particularly in Advance ROTC. That taking up ROTC particularly in Advance means hitting two birds with one stone. During the program, Commandant and members of the Training Staff and Pool of Instructors were introduced.
After the program Orientation Proper follows for the ROTC Cadets to understand RA 7077, an act providing for the organization, administration, training, maintenance, and utilization of the citizen armed force of the philippines and for other purposes,
The legal basis why ROTC (Reserve Officer Training Corps) training for the Cadets is conducted. Let them understand their obligation as a Filipino citizen of our country especially in times of war or any foreign invasion in our country To inculcate in their minds patriotism Ang pagiging makabayan or our support to our country as it's citizen and nationalism the identification with one's own nation and support for its interests. It is also in the Orientation Proper that the Cadets will understand the grading system of the ROTC Unit based on AFPR G 310-021. Cadets are graded based on their Attendance which is equivalent to 30%, followed by their Graded Test and Exams which is 40% and their Aptitude (Merits - Demerits System ) which is 30% with a total of 100%. Let them know that each of them were given 100 merits and if they don't follow the prescribed requirements like wearing incomplete uniform, unprescribed haircut, no white hankeys, unshined boots, buckles, swords, late in formation, unshaved mustach, protruding nosehairs, dirty and long nails and not following orders as per instruction of the ROTC Commandant they will be deducted thru demerits. That three (3) consecutive absences a cadet will be called to report and explain the reasons for being absent and failure to report means drop. It is also during the Orientation that Corps of Cadets Officers will be introduced so they will gain also the respect of the basic ROTC Cadets. That's all for now... See you
