News | Princes Ann Halal

Akala ko hindi ako makakasama sa top three, so I'm really grateful.''

News-Feature | Allyza Asnan

December is the month that symbolizes giving, sharing, and helping each other. As for the CEFIzens, it is the most wonderful time to end the year with the beginning of the Hatid Aral Project. Hatid Aral sa Kamusmusan is a response to difficulties that communities encounter while pursuing their children’s educational enrichment. With the Hatid Aral Project, its main goal is to provide quality and accessible education for the community children to prepare them for school. It involves teaching to broaden their knowledge and skills, and to inspire them to enjoy the process of learning.

The Hatid Aral Project will be held for 13 Saturdays, starting this December 2, 2023 until March 16, 2024. Clubs from the Basic Education Program (Seeders Club, Mentis et Animus, Academic Club SHS, SHS Gazette, SSG SHS, Sports Club SHS, Ars Artis, Maharlika, Computer Lad and Lass, Interact Club, Yes-O JHS, Junior Gazette, Chess Wizards, Sporrs Club JHS, Boys Scout and Girl Scout JHS, Arts Club, The Kiddie Gazette, Yes-O Elementary, YPG, Pythagoras, and Sports Club Elementary) will be participating in this project, together with the students and other faculty members.

The Hatid Aral is partnered with the community of Mayao Crossing. It first started with the Seeders Club and Mentis et Animus today, December 2. A total of nine members participated and taught the children how to recite and write the letters of the alphabet, and familiarized them with shapes. It can be seen in plain sight that the community children has this eagerness and excitement while learning their ABCs. After their lesson, the students formed a big circle in the middle of the classroom and they danced and sang to different nursery rhymes.

Hatid Aral sa Kamusmusan serves as a platform to reach out and unite with different communities to help each other hand in hand; to share and give each other love especially this December. This serves as CEFI’s vision to sustain community extension services.

Elementary Program's Creativity and the Christmas Spirit
News-Feature | Allyza Asnan

“A magical christmas, a magical heart."
- Elementary Program

This month is indeed the most wonderful time of the year; from the lighting of the Christmas tree to creative Christmas decorations. The elementary program has surely captured the spirit of Christmas!

Last November 30, 2023, the Christmas Ligthing ceremony of the Elementary Program was held in the KRU building. It was facilitated by the Student Activities Coordinator, ma’am Renchelle Pabellano, and Program Chairperson, sir Ken Laurence Villaflor. The attendees of this ceremony were the students and parents from Preschool Level to Grade 6. The tall Christmas tree stood inside the KRU building along with the other Christmas trees from different grade level.

The judging of the Christmas Door decoration competition was also held in the KRU building, and the announcement of winners will be revealed on December 13 during the BED Christmas Presentation. Each classroom from the Elementary program reflected the students’, parents’, and the faculty members’ creativity towards celebrating Christmas. With the whitest and realistic snowman; Nutcracker lurking in the hallway designed in the surface of the door; the largest chocolate and other sweets like candies and lollipops scattered over the walls; a door designed as a chimney that serves as Santa Claus’ entryway to give the kids their presents; and the reimagined Disneyland with disco lights circling around. These are one of the most impeccable decorations one could ever witness! And this sure brought more life and color to the hallways of KRU.

The Elementary program did not disappoint in curating their designs for the Christmas decoration competition, as well their Christmas trees, which also have their own uniqur designs. From a white christmas tree decorated with donuts and colorful ornaments, to a Christmas tree designed with as a representation of the birth of Jesus Christ. Christmas is within the bones of the students and it is igniting.

Celebrating Christmas with such spirit, creativity, and joy, is what CEFIzens are truly known for.

SHS CEFIzens wins 2nd in Hermana Fausta Music Video Contest
News Feature | Gab Quisao

Ten selected Grade 12 students from the Maharlika Club showcased their skills in acting, cinematography, and creative thinking in the music video competition with a theme of “Hermana Fausta: Lingkod ng Simbahan, Inspirasyon ng Sambayanan" which was conducted by the Sacred Heart College-Lucena Alumni Association, Incorporated (SHC-LAAI).

The awarding of the competition was held on November 24 at Sacred Heart College, Lucena City.

The students who competed at the Hermana Fausta Contest were Breanna Louise Oca- director, Gabrielle Anne Quisaoa-director of photography, Raniella Baconawa-Hermana Fausta, and the rest of the cast: Jheycie Lhyne Altez, Jaimie Rose Euden, Kian Clark Mercurio, Mariz Gwyrneth Montante, Ray Louisse Kent Ocampo, Kim Cedric Olea, Kim Zymund Verdan. With great teamwork and determination, the group went beyond expectations and secured their spot for 2nd place.

As the director, Oca shared their experience and inspiration on the said competition. “Whenever I was tasked to direct a film or a project, I always require myself to put ample of time for the preparations because it's just so soothing to work with much joy than pressure. But of course, pressure will always be there, but with time and joy, pressure will just glide. So, we have dedicated a whole week for the shoot and editing and we have maximized all of our potential and utilized all of our skills and with that, absolutely without no intention of swanking, I think we have achieved to create an outstanding output in a sense of a music video for the song Ikaw ang Bituin.”

For their music video’s concept, she added “On day before the shoot, I was given a task to direct a music video which shall include hermana fausta as Ina ng Lucena, from that moment, I was shocked, excited actually to think of a concept for the music video. When I first heard the song, there goes a line that says "Sinong gagabay sa liku-likong daan, sino ang lalapitan, nag-iisang lumalaban." I thought of the children, who at a young age experienced the heavy challenges of life without no help and guidance. So, I have come up with 4 children: one who needs to work and sell sampaguitas to survive, one who thought of stealing for his brother's food, one with a disability, and the other with a serious disease. Without Hermana, they have never seen the light of hope. Until the chorus plays, and that's when fausta started to influence each of their lives and ignited hope in their hearts.”
