Did OPM really die? Was it even on the verge of death in the first place?

We don’t listen to music like we used to anymore or, should I say, we don’t consume music like we used to anymore. If what they mean by the death of OPM is its disappearance on the FM radio and the evident drop of CD sales then yes, OPM, as a nostalgic piece of cultural medium, is dead. The number one suspect? - technology. When it came to the modern way of listening to music, the Philippine music industry was a little behind in adapating to the change.

However, 2018 has been a really good year for OPM! Amazing artists who have been hidden in the dark for too long are now being brought to the frontlines.What was once declared dead is now rising from it's shallow grave captivating the hearts of both Filipinos and foreign music lovers alike.

Did OPM really die? Was it even on the verge of death in the first place?
Will it die sometime in the future?
