“The Last Mile”
People are lying down in pain and tears
On an old aged stone of birth
Time has ended for this pathetic crowd
Penny eyes from a monetary’s worth
False words were spoken by idle’s self-made
A broken house is run by rules of hand
Mistakes from too many footprints around
Precious breaths are buried in the hourglass’s sand
The cloudy skies are painted black by death
An ominous presence surrounds the air of the weak
It takes pleasure in twisting a very dull knife
When pain breaks the heart, love will no longer speak
Now, statues are created that will never leave a shadow
Their insane thoughts evolved through the years
Scarred couples are reveling in each birth of a scream
A cigarette is lit, blowing smoke in the eyes of fears
Caring for love will only appear in one’s soul
When the reaper pays the final debt of a smile
From the breaths of all those who hate
Life will always be owed the last mile
Into the cemetery lies the last possession of truth
Outside the gate, ugliness is closing the last exit door
A poet sitting on a hill is filling his pen with tears
To write the names on the tombstones of the forgotten poor
The end of another round of drinks
But the darkness won’t let the wicked ones sleep
The shadows are released and chain the crowd to a rock
Another taste of a feast for the eagles to keep
The end of another round of drinks
It’s closing time for the world that will end
But tomorrow will stay open for time to blink
But there’s nothing left for the world to mend
