𝗝𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘆𝗹 𝗝𝗲𝗲 𝗛. 𝗦𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗼𝗻, who is also known as "Jaja", began as a young cartoonist of a school paper, which later led her to a wider audience. Competing in the Division, Regional and National Schools Press Conferences in 2023, Sayson hit the jackpot with flying colors notching first place for three consecutive times...but she didn’t stop there. Joining this year’s competition, she brought home another achievement, proving her excellence as a two-time NSPC qualifier. Aside from that, Sayson was also awarded as the Most Outstanding Campus Journalist of Bicol this year, followed by another trophy as the creator of the Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) 2024 logo, showing how her passion ignites every time she holds a pen and a piece of paper, accomplishing milestones one after another.

Facing over 13 divisions from across Bicol Region, the University of Saint Anthony Senior High School (USANT SHS) campus journalists delivered stellar performances at the 2024 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) held last May 8-11, 2024, at the Iriga City Sports Center.

During the Mayor’s Night on May 9, USANT SHS Official Student Paper Publication, The Sentinel also received recognition as Fourth Place Best Editorial Page and Ninth Place Best News Page, together with Student Journalist Jascyl Jee Sayson, awarded as the Most Outstanding Campus Journalist (Secondary Level) in the region.

At least 60 debaters and adjudicators from all over the Philippines participated in the recently concluded Salingoy: Santiago Ortega Cup last April 26 to 28, 2024 at the University Forum and Annex Building.

The first ever debate cup was initiated by Anthonian Debate Union, comprised of three organizations namely Anthonian Debate League, Anthonian Debate Circle (ADC), and The Piethos: Shrewed Anthonians for Advertency.

Sean Allain Vidal, prime minister of ADC said hosting the tournament came from the collective goal of all debate organizations of the University of Saint Anthony to launch the first ever regional tournament under the name and glory of the late Dr. Santiago G. Ortega.

It was as fulfilling as ever because they were able to achieve their goal, which was to raise the excellence that the Anthonian debating field has to offer, Vidal added.

Furthermore, debaters and adjudicators from USANT clinched awards in the said event.

John Ashton Javier and Dave Christopher Oliva secured second place as Grand Finalists of Ortega Cup. Additionally, Javier earned the title of 5th Best Novice Speaker.

Francis Cenon Elevado and Nikailla Chelsea Sarmiento nabbed the second-breaking team in the Open Cup Category. Elevado secured the 5th Best Open Speaker and Sarmiento received the 3rd Best Open Speaker.

Meanwhile, Marian Janel Palos emerged as the 7th Best Judge award, Mary Denise Abaño nabbed the 9th Best Judge award, and Freya Sophia Aquino received the 10th Best Judge award.

Bagging different events with a great number of wins, Yellow Phoenix was announced as the overall champion of the Senior High Schoolympics during the awarding and closing ceremony of the said event last April 23, 2024, at the USANT Forum.

The program commenced with the opening prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed by the opening remarks given by the department principal, Mrs. Nenita T. Andalis.

In celebration of the Senior High Schoolympics, Blue Dragon bags Literature, Music, and Dance (LITMUSDA) championship as students unleashed their creativity and skills on the said event last April 20, 2024, at the University Forum.

Art expression and imagination filled the forum with Literature contests such as Extemporaneous Speech, Spoken Word Poetry, Tigsik, Declamation as well as Speech Choir.

The air also resonated with melodies as talented SHS Students from different teams showcase their passion in Music with their angelic voice in Vocal Solo (Male and Female Category) and the Vocal Duet.

Grooves hyped up the audiences with dance contests such as Contemporary Dance, Modern Hip-hop to Cheerdance competition.

To conclude the said event, awards were given to the winners.

𝘉𝘺: 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘦 𝘎𝘶𝘦𝘷𝘢𝘳𝘳𝘢

Showcasing excellence and competitiveness in academics, Blue Dragons got first place in Battle of the Brains last April 19, in line with SCHOOLYMPICS 2024, held at the Senior High School (SHS) Audio Visual Room.

The contest was represented by five students on each team namely, Blue Dragons, Red Griffins, Yellow Phoenix, and Pink Unicorn.

Program started at 1:30 p.m. with an opening prayer and singing of the national anthem. Reading of guidelines was done by Henrico Sernal, one of the SHS faculty and the quiz master.

The quiz was composed of five subjects namely, English, Filipino, Science, Math, and General Interests. Each subject is composed of ten questions.

After the quiz, the announcement of winners was done wherein Blue Dragons was announced as the first place, Red Griffins as the second place, Yellow Phoenix as third place, and Pink Unicorn got the fourth place.

𝘉𝘺: 𝘚𝘩𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘩 𝘗𝘴𝘢𝘭𝘮 𝘓. 𝘛𝘶𝘥

As the opening program of the annually conducted Schoolympics of the Senior High School Department commenced, it was followed by the Search for Mister and Miss Schoolympics 2024 last April 18 at the University Forum.

Representing the different teams, an opening production from the contestants was given and was followed by an intermission number from Sanielle Llagas and Trisha Mae Panton, both grade 12 students of the University.

Followed by the Denim Runway Challenge and White Casual Attire Walk, where contestants showed their glamour in presenting themselves.

After being announced as the Mr. Schoolympics 2023 and Ms. Schoolympics 2023 respectively, Kim Albia and Mariana Chan graced the stage with their speech along with their farewell walk before passing the crown to the next batch of title holders.

The most awaited question and answer portion through a picture analysis also commenced.

To end the search, major awards, minor awards, and corporate awards were given.

Joseph Carl Lagrimas and Marian Janel Palos, both from Pink Unicorn, were hailed as the Mister and Miss Schoolympics 2024.

University of Saint Anthony Senior High School Department began the Schoolympics 2024 at the USANT forum last April 18.

The atmosphere was filled with colorful displays as the competing teams; the Blue Dragons, Yellow Phoenix, Red Griffins, and Pink Unicorns showcased various props to represent their team.

As the yell presentation began, the four teams presented their prepared performances.Furthermore, the raising of the Philippine flag, school flag, and team flags also commenced.

The symbolic lighting of the torch carried by John Andre Aguja, a notable figure in cycling, took place, followed by the oath-taking ceremony led by him.

The launch of Schoolympics 2024 at USANT was marked by enthusiasm and unity, promising exciting competitions and lasting bonds among participants.

In the tranquility of early morning, a Muslim rises gently and proceeds to welcome the ending of Ramadan with Eid’l Fitr. Eid’l Fitr, which means “Feast of the Breaking of the Fast,” culminates the Muslim’s practice of fasting during the Islamic holy month. It is commemorated by a community-wide morning prayer service followed by joyous meals and conversations among friends and family.

One of the special events during Eid’l Fitr is that it brings people together like a big family. Muslims meet up at mosques and in their neighborhoods. They pray together, especially during Taraweeh prayers. They also share meals with their loved ones and help others who need it.

The timing of Eid relies on the sighting of the crescent moon. It has been said that the sighting of the crescent moon is crucial to the Islamic calendar since it marks the beginning of a new lunar month and guides the timing of important events such as the beginning and end of Ramadan.

Eid'l Fitr holds a special place in Muslims' hearts worldwide. It's a time of happiness and gratitude, serving as a well-deserved reward for those who have diligently fasted throughout the holy month of Ramadan. People from all walks of life unite like a family, regardless of background. It's a moment of togetherness and support, where everyone, rich or poor, shares in the same joy.

To commemorate the valorous sacrifices of those who laid out their lives for the country's independence, the Day of Valor stands as a reminder of tenacity from the soldiers of Bataan. Despite facing overwhelming challenges with the Japanese troops holding an advantage in numbers, these Filipino soldiers showed their blood as part of the country by showcasing their courage and resilience as they persistently defended their terrain.

Their determination to stop invaders from stealing their homeland was not deterred by the stable force of the Japanese soldiers; rather, it served as a catalyst to ignite a passion of perseverance as they wrestled for the rights of the country.

Alas, there were too many of the opposing troops leaving the Filipino soldiers in dismay, but what they offered was not in vain as it played a huge key in distracting the Japanese forces; leaving the pacific area open for an attack. This just shows how much us Filipinos, even in the darkest times, can find light serving as a beacon for the country's future.

Although tragic, their sacrifices will remain as a sign of the unyielding spirit of not just the soldiers from Bataan but all the Filipinos residing around the world.
