A 19.3% increase has been approved on the last day of budget hearing at the committee level for the BARMM’s Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform Ministry (MAFAR) budget for 2024 this morning, December 14.
Member of the Parliament Arch. Eduard Guerra, chair of the Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management, moved for the approval of P1.882 billion MAFAR proposed budget after thorough scrutiny and deliberation.
Another P302 million addition was also recommended by Subcommittee Chair Engr. Baintan Ampatuan, who defended the ministry’s budget.
She explained that the additional budget will bolster the modernization of agricultural and fisheries production.
Strengthening research development and extension, agrarian reform programs, partnerships, staff capacity development, and halal food industry in the region are among the priorities of the MAFAR.
According to MAFAR, the ministry is envisioning a Bangsamoro region of socio-economically stable, resilient, and globally competitive farmers and fisherfolks.
The ministry also ensures the availability, adequacy, accessibility, and affordability of food supplies at all times in the region. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
