When did you last have a good laugh?

If you focus on all your personal pains, doubts, worries, and fears, you should have forever lost your God-given ability to laugh. But I do understand how many of those who experienced losses during the pandemic would find it hard to have some joy in their lives. Laughter would have been impossible.

But why do we need to laugh-despite everything?Because laughter has a way of softening the cruel realities we face. It lightens the burdens of daily life.
Laughter by itself is a powerful healing tool, but when we laugh with the people we love, its healing power is 100 times more.

I urge you to laugh easy and laugh often. When you laugh, you trust that God is a God who likes you and laughs with you. When you laugh, it's an act of faith that God is in charge and, in due time, everything will be all right. -Bo Sanchez

What can you laugh about today?

"Obedience is "a moral virtue that inclines the will to comply with the will of another who has the right to command"(St. Thomas Aquinas). As a father of three girls,it's one of the most important virtues I teach them. We have house rules that they must follow and obey."

"It was easier to make our children obey when they were younger, but as they get older and start to have a mind of their own, it seems that making them obey is more difficult. Once, one of them was irritated, so I asked her, "Why are you mad?"She replied, "Why, Daddy, I can't?" I froze and wanted to lash out at her for the way she answered. But I realized she needed to acknowledge her emotions. If I want my child to obey me, I need to acknowledge her feelings and emotions too."

"God loves us despite our wayward emotions. And even when it seems that our feelings rebel against what He asks us to do, He honors our obedience anyway. The call to obedience is a call to love. God wants us to obey Him because it opens us to receive more of His love." -Joel Saludares

"When we love the Lord, obedience ceases to be a burden. Obedience becomes a delight." (Joseph Wirthlin)

"Habits separate high achievers from the rest of the crowd. So for the past couple of years, I did my best to change my habits. When I changed my habits, I saw better results. But here's what I discovered: my most important habit is daily prayer and meditation. When my life is a mess, the first thing I check is the quality of my prayer time, only to find out that I probably missed it, rushed it, or didn't go deep into it.It's the habit that anchors my soul to the Source of everything."

"In the Bible, the word success is never mentioned. The closest word to it is fruitfulness. I'm not saying toaim for success is bad. But I believe there's a huge difference between the two. Success is about achieving; fruitfulness is about becoming. Success is about reaching the top; fruitfulness is about going deeper into one's soul. Success is about gaining more life; fruitfulness is about giving more life."

"Yes, habits can make us successful, but only God can make us fruitful. Would you rather be fruitful or successful? Remain in Him." - Yelden Lim

"I'll call you when I'm free."I felt relieved after reading our godmother's reply. We were processing our parents' passport application and there were a few inconsistencies in their documents. Though we already prepared supplemental papers, my overthinking self kept bothering me. I decided to message our godmother who was familiar with the process. Hours passed and I got worried. What if she forgot about me? My mind was running a million things when my phone rang. I wanted to smack myself on the forehead as I answered her call."

"I realized how I've acted the same way toward God many times. I'd raise a concern to Him and wonder if He remembered His promises. Or I'd doubt if He would respond to me. In my craziest times, I even asked, "Hello, God?! Do You still know me?"

"Good thing, God doesn't get mad no matter how annoying I become. He just patiently reminds me that He remembers. He hears me. He sees me. All because He loves me. Sometimes, I can even imagine Him saying, "Chill, Maymay. I got you."

"I've considered myself more of a writer than a speaker. To avoid confrontations, I would rather write a letter than have a face-to-face conversation. Some say this is the easier way out."

"But as I grew in my faith and became a servant leader and author, the need for me to be a speaker was more apparent. Me? I get nervous just leading a prayer!"

"Over the years, when I would be invited to give a talk, I'a make sure I had my notes nearby as a safety net. If it was an interview or a forum style event that needed a spontaneous answer, I'd nervously speak my mind and sometimes regret what I'd say after. I'd doubt myself saying,"I wish I had said this instead of that." Or, "I wasn't clear and I didn't say enough." Or,"I forgot to make this point."

"As I expressed my dismay to a friend, he said,"Don't worry, you already said everything God wanted you to say. "Another friend said, "All you have to do is open your mouth and let the Holy Spirit take over." That's what I aim for nowwhenever I speak."
-Cheri Roberto

"Can someone really do "greater"things than Jesus? Jesus preached to a crowd of 5,000. I preached to 500,000 in a single event at the 4004 anniversary of the Poong Nazareno, with the use of giant LEDs and state-of-the-art sound system at the Quirino Grandstand. Jesus had to hop to different places, but every Sunday, I do better than bilocation.I simultaneously preach in 100 different prison facilities, thanks to Zoom."

"Truth #1: I can do greater things than Jesus only through His power. Truth #2: When it comes to giving glory to the Father, Jesus doesn't mind who gets the credit. Truth #3: God doesn't need the imperfect me, but still fills me with His merciful love that overflows and touches others."

"Jesus was never divorced. Linda was, but her warm embrace heals the wounds of battered wives. Jesus was never addicted to m**h. Dino was, but his very presence as a former addict conveys a story of hope."

"Friend, you can do greater things today."

"In 1996, we were sent on a mission to Jakarta. The late Jaime Cardinal Sin reminded us to help Filipino expatriates live their Christian faith in a non-Christian environment, as well as share the Good News to Indonesians the Lord brings to us. The Cardinal quoted Saint Francis, saying. "Preach the Gospel at all times and, if necessary, use words." He added that, oftentimes, the most powerful sermons are unspoken."

"Rosanne and I resolved that, first and foremost, our priority was to live as a family devoted unto the Lord-as husband and wife, and as parents to Rinka and Becca. As we did this, we saw the reality of Cardinal Sin's reminder."

"Soon, we were in touch with fellow Filipinos and even Indonesians who came to us to seek counsel and help them make sense of their life journeys. We were encouraged that they came to us not because of what we said or preached, but because of seeing how we lived and related with one another."

A busy man hopped into a cab and told the driver, "Drive fast!" The driver sped off. A few minutes later, the busy man asked the driver," Wait, do you know where we're going?" The driver replied," No, sir, but we're very fast!"

"In life, it's not enough to be quick and busy. Our destination is of great importance! Where are you headed? Equally important is how you get to your destination, also known as the way. How will you get there?"

"In life, your "way" is your life values, beliefs, and principles. Everything in life should bring you closer to your desired destination."

"When it comes to eternal life, there is only one way: Jesus. He says, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Me." If you want to get to heaven, Jesus is the only way. Make sure that your values, beliefs, and even friends, are rooted in Jesus.

"Some of us live our lives like this. We know everything about what we believe and what we want to happen. But somehow, we get stuck at just the idea. We fail to act on them."

"Our words can go viral for being inspiring but, in the end, our actions reveal our hearts. Memorizing a thick book on Christianity is useless if we can't spare our time for those in need. Grace is given not to them who speak their faith, but to those who live it. When the time comes to see God face to face, He won't say, "Well said, My child," but rather, "Well done, My child."

"Have you prayed any of these prayers? Question: Did it work? How many times have you asked God for som**hing and He didn't answer? So why does Jesus tell us to ask for"anything" and still not give everything we asked? We need to remember that to pray in the name of Jesus is not evoking a magical spell like abracadabra. Neither is praying in Jesus' name a blank check to ask for anything that comes to mind. When we ask for anything and invoke His name, we should act in the authority of Jesus rather than our own. Meaning, when we pray in Jesus' name, we act according to His will."

"It is setting aside our own desire and submitting to God's will about what we pray for. Praying in Jesus' name means we want to glorify Him, not ourselves, in the answer to those prayers. And when we do that, all our prayers will be answered." -Arun Gogna

"She was like any 13-year-old until you start asking her questions about her parents."So,"I asked carefully,"what is your mom and dad in jail for?" She shrugged her shoulders, looked at me, and replied flatly,"Murder." Apparently, her parents were part of a local armed insurgent group assigned to "clean up undesirable elements." She was now virtually an orphan, living with distant relatives, and being monitored by a social worker."

"People who ask why we serve in the prison ministry automatically think about the prisoner and their crime. But what many don't understand about this ministry is that it's not just about the prisoner; it's also about the families, especially the children they leave behind, who end up victims too."

"Today's First Reading describes a little-known Christian who would have fit perfectly in serving today's prison ministry. He regularly saw the good in others, always exercised mercy, and often gave second chances. He got so good at consoling others that they started calling him Barnabas, which means,"Son of Encouragement" May we learn from his example andalways see the good in others." -Rod Velez

"A candle, by giving its light, consumes itself, growing smaller and smaller until it's gone. Servants are the same. We serve, decreasing and decreasing until we're gone. The goal of a humble servant is to raise younger people to take his place-others better than him. Once he has done that, he fades in the shadows and starts serving people as a "leader without a title." He's not attached to his position. He's only attached to God."

"At the end of the day, a humble servant knows that his real reward is Jesus Himself. If you have any kind of authority, there's one thing you need to remove from your heart: the poison of entitlement. Seniority or leadership-as parents, bosses, or leaders-makes people feel entitled. Our higher position makes us feel we deserve special treatment."

"But that's wrong. Leadership isn't a call to be entitled but to be extinguished. Because leadership is servanthood. And servanthood calls for a lot of dying to one's self. Are you ready?" -Bo Sanchez

"We're new "fur-parents" to our puppy, Korgi. He's actually not a Corgi-he's a Shih Tzu that we named after the Thor character, Korg. We're learning every day how to give him a beautiful life with us."

"One of our challenges is feeding him. Sometimes, he wouldn't eat anything we gave him. It pains us every time he refuses food even if we try multiple coaxing techniques or different food varieties. We later discovered that it's not that he's full, but his stomach was in distress. As soon as his tummy became better, hed gobble up his food again, much to our joy!"

"Aren't we the same? There are times when God's lifegiving message is right in front of us, yet we don't ingest it.Despite being hungry and in need of His nourishment, we don't partake of it. One of the helpful ways to solve this confusion is to get information only from trusted sources that have a track record for responsible journalism. It's also good to ask for the grace of discernment from the Holy Spirit to know who we should believe in. Jesus said we would know them by the fruits of their lives."

"I admonished him not to engage them in a legal battle because it would break up the family and will only result in regret. I advised him to show them love by sponsoring a Christmas family reunion where he could explain his side of the issues. During the Christmas reunion, my nephew testified to how God prospered his business. He then honored the Child Jesus by passing a small replica of the Infant Jesus to the family members while they paused for prayer.
