ICYMI: The Visayas State University - Baybay ROTC Unit successfully concluded its Graduation and Turnover Ceremony in SY: 2023-2024 last May 31, 2024 at VSU Lower Oval Grounds, 1400H wherein 1,022 advance and basic cadets were officially confirmed as graduates of Batch "MATALAS" and finished their Military Science courseโ the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC).
The most anticipated event was eagerly attended by the honored guests namely the VSU President Dr. Prose Ivy G. Yepes, alongside with Dr. Aleli A. Villocino, 1LT ROLANDO M EBCAS JR PA(RES), LTC JESON G CAPOQUIAN (INF)PA, Sr. Mary Michael G. Bactong, OSF, and other important guests in the said event.
Moreover, the event highlighted the celebration of the cadet's unwavering hard work, steadfastness, dedication, commitment and service to the country that despite the challenges encountered, their endeavors had now finally paid and rewarded off, not just to comply National Service Training Program (NSTP) course but to serve the country with valor, love, honor, duty and solidarity. The military skills and tactics they've learned alongside with the discipline, strategy, courage, precision, alertness and grit will be their utmost weapon to face any hurdles in life as students, as citizens and as future builders and defenders in the country.
This truly reflected the ROTCU's noteworthy service in shaping cadet's attributes of pride, leadership, and nationalism leaving a legacy of honor, service and excellence. A snappy salute and congratulations, Batch "MATALAS" Class of 2024. Matapang, Tatag, at Lakas!

The said event was eagerly attended by the RAATI Chairman LTC BENJY ROBERTO G FERRERAS MNSA PA (RES), the Chief Inspector LTC JAY B OLARTE (INF) PA, VSU ROTC Commandant LTC JESON G CAPOQUIAN (INF) PA, Fr. Gary Nelson L Esguerra of the Holy Spirit Parish, and the VSU Academic Affairs Dr Rotacio S Gravoso, on behalf of the VSU President, Dr Prose Ivy G Yepes.
Moreover, the RAATI team and its members namely MSg Raul J Doliendo (Inf) PA, Msg Recho P Lopez (Ret) PA, Ssg Jonelon B Liagao (AGS) PA, Sgt Dominique G Catapatan (AGS) PA, Sgt Frederick U Guazon (Inf) PA, Cpl Mario D Picardal Jr (Inf) PA and, Pvt Rico C Carbonel (Inf) PA also made a presence in the big event.
The event's highlights demonstrated in the ceremony included the ceremonial parade, the rigorous inspection, and the military stakes such as Small Unit Tactics (SUT), Disaster and Rescue Operation (Basic Life Support), Military Courtesy and Discipline, M16 Rifle & Cal .45 Pistol Assembly and Disassembly, Map reading, and Theoretical and written examinations aiming to assess and evaluate the Corps and Cadets' efficacy and readiness in administrative capabilities and tactical proficiency while carrying out their will and missions. This also measures the cadet's prowess, precision, alertness, sharpness, and discipline in the midst of challenges.
Hence, the unit's salient achievement reflected the cadets resiliency, resoluteness, hard work and dedication for they set the benchmark of excellence in the field which was a testament to their intense preparat
