This week I spent extra time rehearsing as one of the hosts and organizers of the Indigenous + Eco Fashion Show 2023. Towards the duration of the rehearsals, I observed some things to ponder about both as organizers or participants of the activity. First, some models would state petty reasons just like “nasakit ulo na kanu” just so they will not attend the practices. (Nagbainak mut nga inggana idi mismo nga aldaw ti contest ket adda panateng na.) Second, they keep on asking to change their descriptions or even their models which I didn’t really tolerate at all. (Maawatan yo kuma nga haan kasjay kalaka agsukat ti script mi mut as hosts ken nagrigat nu every rehearsals agrugi manen ta kanayun masabalian ti contestant, isunga nu sumali ket takderan amin nga desisyones ti biyag. Inbagak talaga nu kasta duray haan kayon sumali.) Third, there are queries that I didn’t bother to respond at all as I already informed them during the rehearsals. (Nu sumaruno gamin ket apan nu adda practice ta haan nga adu ti damag, tao tayo haan nga parrot nga kaykayat na maulit-ulit ibagbaga na.) Last, if I will organize activities like this again in the future I will somehow find a way to include attitude, attendance to practices, paying attention to details, and all other non-observables during the competition proper as part of the criteria for judging. (Mas mariknak nga naragsakak nu jay rinumwar nga result ket jay nakitak nga dagijay dedicated idi practice, ammu na ti dumngeg ta napakumbaba, ken haan nga apan agrarason ti istorya tupo-tupo.) Ket diyay lang, iflex kon daytoy rupa mi nga duduwa kami nagpractice tas nag-effort kami ladta idi aldaw en ti competition uray haan kami mut nga contestant.
