The Philippine national anthem resonates with pride and honor, undaunted by any threats towards our own freedom. Our heroes’ valiant bloodshed for liberty freed the Filipinos from the oppressors who held the country by the throat throughout the centuries.

As we commemorate National Heroes Day, let us honor our national heroes who not only left legacies but also sacrificed their lives for our freedom. As Filipinos, let us continue to strive for resilience, unity, and liberty.

In accordance with Proclamation No. 665, which officially declares August 23, 2024, a special non-working holiday in observance of Ninoy Aquino Day and August 26, 2024, as National Heroes Day, there will be no classes tomorrow and on Monday.

Grade 12 ABM students will attend their regular Saturday classes as scheduled.

The Republic Central Colleges (RCC) Stallions Genina Angel Peralta and Klaude Raywin Pillone had the privilege to represent not only the institution, but the whole region as they compete in Archery and Swimming in National Private Schools Athletic Association (National PRISAA) 2024, respectively.

Peralta and Pillone brought home a total of two medals, a silver and a bronze, in team events last July 23 and 28, held at Legazpi City, Albay in the Bicol Region.

Peralta, a senior high school student, previously won three bronze medals and a 3rd place finish in the Regional PRISAA to secure a spot in the national games.

She was the first RCCian to qualify for archery in the aforementioned games, and was teamed up with other competitors for the Region III’s Archery team.

The Batang Pinoy (Philippine Youth Games) contender said the competition was tough, yet the experience and enjoyment was there throughout the competition.

“Every competition is a lesson. I won't lose hope and I'll come back stronger," she said positively, hoping to compete again and represent Central Luzon next year.

Likewise, Pillone splashes pool to bag bronze in the 4x100 medley relay, submerging other competitors in the games.

Pillione, who is also a senior high school student, made a medal haul in the regional games with a gold, a silver, and a bronze to book a ticket in the national games in Legazpi.

He was with other Tankers including the likes of Cate Maxene Garcia and Sebastian Vergara, but untimately, Pillone showed prowess to win bronze.

Mr. Bernardino Policarpio, Pillone’s coach for swimming, expressed his delight and happiness for his swimmer via a Facebook post.

The RCCians will try to shoot a shot and dive into medal pool when they compete in other tournaments, such as the Angeles City PRISAA which will be held later this year.

As a way to inform the freshmen students from Grade 7, transferees, and students coming from the multiple strands of senior high school, the High School Department of Republic Central Colleges (RCC) is holding its General Orientation for S.Y. 2024-2025, today, July 23, 2024 via Zoom Meetings.

Mr. Renz A. Camaya, Senior High School Coordinator has talked about the RCC History. Meanwhile, Dr. Shirly D. Lazatin, the Principal RCC High School Department is talking about the various policies existing in the school, proper school uniform, decorum, and accreditation.

Malagu Ca, Pampanga!: Binibining Pilipinas names Jasmin Bungay as Miss Globe 2024

On July 7, 2024, Jasmin Bungay was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Globe at the 60th edition of the prestigious Binibining Pilipinas Grand Coronation Night. This victory marks a significant milestone in her journey through pageantry, a path that began during her high school years.

Jasmin completed her high school as the batch salutatorian in 2014 at Republic Central Colleges (RCC), where her involvement in one of the school activities led by the English Club, sparked her interest in pageantry. Her leadership skills were evident early on, as she served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Gleaner High School, further showcasing her dedication and talent.

RCC STUDENTS ALLOWED TO TAKE FINAL EXAMS

Angeles City Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr.
has granted the request of Republic Central Colleges to hold face-to-face final examinations for Elementary, Junior and Senior High School Students on May 2-4, 2024 and for College Students for Prefinals on May 2-4, 2024 and Final Exams on May 8-25, 2024.

Mayor Lazatin has granted the request of RCC "provided that the management takes responsibility for any untoward incidents that may occur involving the students, considering the dangerously high heat index.”

Note that, should the heat index reach 44 degrees celsius or higher this permission is automatically repealed and all face-to-face school activities are to be cancelled.

With a heavy heart, we express our deepest condolences to the bereaved family, friends, students and colleagues of Mr. Ahmed Samia, Jr.

Sir Ahmed is the head of the RCC Office of Student Affairs (OSA). His untimely passing is felt; and his memory and legacy will live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, especially his students, we at the Gleaner HS included; his colleagues, acquaintances, and friends; and his family.

He is remembered and will always be, as a dedicated and passionate leader and colleague; a true, reliable and loving friend and son; and a teacher, whose profession and vocation he embodied so well and through which he impacted so many lives of his students, even in just a very short period of time.

The Gleaner - High School again expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved; and at the same time, sincerest gratitude for the life, love, and service of Sir Ahmed, himself. Rest in peace, Sir.
