Tomuriesa said, PNG echoes a message of being 'friend to all, enemy to none' and yet, the Prime Minister didn't accord the Head of State for the Vatican the same welcome he does so to other world leaders.

: Security is tight at the Sir John Guise Stadium. Faithfuls who arrived by 9am were locked outside. They were told to wait until clearance is given.

According to a guard, due to security reasons, movement of people to the outdoor stadium is restricted as the Pope is en route.

Items deemed weapons were also removed at the gate. Among things collected at the gate are water bottles, perfumes, drinks, nail polish, lime, betel nut, gas lighters, umbrellas and biros.

This was part of normal protocol since Sunday.

Catholics faithfuls out in the West Coast of Vanimo, West Sepik Province are gathering at the Holy Trinity School of Humanities where Pope Francis is expected to visit before he returns to Port Moresby.

The Holy Trinity Parish in Baro is also home to the Institute of the Incarnate Word (IVE) order, a Catholic order established in the Pope’s home country of Argentina.

In Baro, the Pope will meet in private with his fellow priests.

: PAPAL VISIT - VANIMO

Hundreds of Catholic faithfuls gathered in Vanimo town this morning for Sunday service, before the arrival of Pope Francis.

The Pontiff will be welcomed at the airport and driven to Vanimo field where a stage has been set up.

Part of his program includes blessing of the sick, and hearing testimonials from local people. This will be followed by a presentation of gifts.

The Pope will then deliver his speech and say a Prayer of consecration; meet the local people and give his final blessings before he leaves Vanimo field to visit the Holy Trinity Humanities School, West Coast of Vanimo.

: The Sir John Guise Stadium is filling up with people as Catholic faithfuls come together to take part in the Eucharistic Celebration to be lead by the Head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis. People have been pouring into the stadium as early as 2am and some are still making their way in. The Holy Mass is expected to start at 8:45am (PNG Time).

The Pope further added that, while foreigners can be allowed to come in and develop the resources, it is only right that the proceeds of the resources are put towards improving the livelihood of the local people.

This message was uttered during his address at the APEC Haus in Port Moresby this morning and comes a month after the brutal killings in East Sepik province. He said violence causes many victims, prevents people from living in peace and hinders development.

: Pope Francis has arrived in Port Moresby on Indonesian National Airline, Garuda to a military welcome at the Jackson's APEC Terminal in Port Moresby.

The Garadu taxied into the Tarmac flying the PNG and Vatican Flags from the Pilot's Cockpit.

The Head of the Catholic was met by Deputy Prime Minister, John Rosso and acting PNG Defence Force Commander, Commodore Philip Polewara.

Outside the APEC Terminal, more than a 1000 people have gathered to wave welcome to the Pope.

Catholic faithfuls are starting to gather at the entrance of the APEC Terminal at 7mile in Port Moresby, awaiting the arrival of Pope Francis.

The Pope will arrive at 6:50pm (PNG time).

Ushers from Bereina in Central Province have been given the task of helping police monitor the movement of people and security.

St. Michael’s Parish Hanuabada will be welcoming the Pope.

Coordinator, Ted Mea said it is a privilege and honor for them to be given this opportunity.

This is the 2nd Pope for Ted to welcome to PNG. He was 16 years when he welcomed Pope John Paul II.

: The Parliament of Papua New Guinea is expected to see a Vote of No Confidence play out on the floor of Parliament in the coming weeks.

Parliament Speaker, Job Pomat, announced this when Parliament reconvened after 2pm today.

“At lunch time the Private Business Committee met and went through the Notice on the Vote of No Confidence against the Prime Minister and had no issue with it,” said Pomat.

"Renbo Paita, the Member for Finschhafen has been named as the Alternate Prime Minister.

“So tomorrow it will be on the Notice Paper,” Pomat continued.

The Notice on the VoNC Motion was received by Speaker of Parliament, Job Pomat at 9:53am today.

This is the furthest a Motion on the Vote of No Confidence against sitting Prime Minister James Marape has come so far.
