Secretary for Department of Information Communication and Technology, Steven Matainaho, said his department was on their fourth draft of a Media Policy that would improve training and capacity for Media personnel and state-run institutions like universities, that provide courses on journalism.
This was highlighted during the inquiry into the role and impact of media in Papua New Guinea hosted by the Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Communications.

3 Mile Police Housing - Lae, Morobe Province
POLICE HOUSING NEEDED
Seventeen (17) Police families are currently living in condemned dormitories of an old DAL in-service center at 3 Mile in Lae.
They are among dozens more in Lae who live in squalid, unsanitary conditions. The families have no access to running water and share a common pit toilet.
As part of the Virtual Newsroom Project (VNP), Lekmak Group Limited spoke to the spouses of policemen who are expected to enforce the law and continue to live in condemned buildings.

Koiari Landowners today threatened to empty the Sirinumu and Edevu dams if they do not receive a favorable response from the Government to reinstate Mr Obed Batia to his substantive position as CEO for PNG Power.
The landowners in a media conference also announced that they have begun the process of collecting signatures for a sit-in protest on Monday.
LLG Presidents and Ward Members have distributed forms to all Wards to collect signatures for the protest.
They claim, they have been reliably informed that Mr Batia was forced to resign.
They say, their petition is the last option and if not entertained, they will empty the dams.
