Happy World Book Day!!! πŸ™‚βœπŸ“”πŸ“šπŸŽ
When I was growing up in Eastbourne, my 2 happy places were the beach and the library. It seems that was the same for other people too - our local library had a prominently displayed sign saying there was a fine of $1.50 for books that were returned to the library with sand in them 🀣
Fast forward quite a few years and I still love going to the beach and the library. One of the best things I have been involved in here in Samoa was to set up a library for the kids at our local primary school in Falease'ela with books donated from NZ, (including from An Ocean of books and Kings Primary School who sent over many boxes of books and also sent their librarian over for a week. She taught me how to do the Dewey Decimal system) Australia and the Apia Rotary club. The library started off in a dusty old store room in the old school and when that building was demolished after being damaged by Cyclone Eveni, we were all excited when a brand new library was built as part of the new school building. With the help of some volunteers from NZ and France, my daughter and one of my friends from the village we were able to set up an awesome facility for the kids in our village.
