Celebrating a remarkable achievement today – marking the fourth anniversary of Evoke Audio in business. What initially began as a casual conversation has evolved into something far beyond our wildest expectations. The journey has had its share of highs and lows, but with invaluable support from our clients, wives, close friends, and family. Coupled with our unwavering dedication and hard work, we’ve transformed it into a source of immense pride.

Over the course of these four years, we’ve undertaken a multitude of remarkable projects. From crafting museum spaces to composing jingles, producing podcasts, recording voice-overs, creating music, and offering post-production for a wide array of projects. In each instance, we’ve successfully translated the audio brief of our clients and partners into reality. Along the way, we’ve forged enduring partnerships. Reflecting on the humble beginnings around Matt’s dining room table, and Ricky’s home studio, it’s surreal to now find ourselves gathered around our own meeting room table, and also collaborating with clients and creating art in our purpose built studios. It’s an amazing feeling that we’ll never get sick of.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our clients, suppliers, wives, friends, and family for their unwavering support, both in the past and as we look forward to the future. We are genuinely grateful. Onwards.

Exciting News! Our online store is now live, catering to the increasing demand from our clients for our tailor-made podcast kits. These comprehensive kits are designed for people eager to kickstart their podcast journey independently, with options for both standalone and audio interface preferences. We’ve been creating these for some of our clients for sometime and seen firsthand how effective they are for a diverse range of recording situations.

We recently collaborated with the team at , contributing our sound design, mixing, and mastering services for their latest showreel. Crafting the sound design was an enjoyable process as we brought their brief to life, followed by mixing and mastering the final project audio.

Earlier this year, Wētā Workshop entrusted us with the audio production, casting, recording, sound design, and audio post-production for two of their immersive exhibits at the NZ Liberation Museum in Le Quesnoy, France. Which saw us collaborating with the team at Wētā Workshop, including senior creative director Andrew Thomas and writer Dave Armstrong.

Voices, the larger of the two spaces, featured more than 20 skilled voice actors from NZ, France, and Germany. This remarkable production was crafted to vividly recount the story of New Zealand's liberation of Le Quesnoy during WW1. The narrative journey starts with the town's occupation, through the buildup to the climactic battle, and culminates in the liberation. Post-liberation, it delves into the aftermath, shedding light on the perspectives of the French, the NZ soldiers, and the German soldiers. We designed immersive soundscapes that included war ambience, additional dialogue, and town atmospheres. These served as an evocative canvas, enriching the storytelling experience. Collaborating with composer Rhian Sheehan, we integrated seven of his emotive compositional movements, and then brought all the elements to life in 7.1 surround sound.

Encounters was the other space we produced, but this time, music took centre stage accompanying a large-scale 2.4x life size figure of a NZ soldier. Encounters features three distinct musical movements by composer Rhian Sheehan, accompanied by our own sound design and atmos to complement the musical journey. The movements were a vivid portrayal of the events that unfolded over the subsequent days following the liberation. The end result was an immersive audio experience brought to life in 4.1 surround sound.

Big thanks to the team at Wētā Workshop for placing their trust in us with the audio in these two spaces. We also extend our thanks to our dedicated collaborators who played pivotal roles in these productions. Our talented voice actors, Kate McGill Casting, Rhian Sheehan, Tim Carlsen, Johnson & Laird Management, Dannielle King, Viviane Lopes and Jakob Jäger.
