THROWBACK THURSDAY: This 1930s photo shows the Tamaki River Bridge linking Howick and Panmure. The concrete bridge was constructed in 1916 to replace the original 1865 swing span structure, the mechanism for which is still visible today under the building at Panmure Bridge Marine. In 1959 the current bridge opened, replacing the deteriorating concrete one.
