Introducing Maya in The Absurdist of Kathmandu.

Among the muddle of shrines and the thicket of ancient rose-colored houses, a girl nimbly walked towards him. She [Maya] was fair and plump with a good-natured, handsome, and firm countenance. Her long, dark hair hopped about her face as she walked in enthusiastic gaits. A few willful ringlets escaped at her temples.

He [Mukti] tried to not meet her eyes, but she waved at him.

‘O-ye,’ she called out in a light Newari accent. He slightly raised his chin and gave a lopsided smile.

Looking cordially into his eyes, she pressed his hands and sat beside him on the steps...

Introducing Mukti in The Absurdist of Kathmandu.

Mukti, clad in an Ugrakarma crewneck, washed jeans, and shod in beatdown loafers, appeared as a dejected figure on the stone steps of the ancient plaza. The plaza was washed in the mild afternoon sun. He carried a h**p knapsack pinned with badges of metal bands across its thin straps. He had been carrying the same bag, since his admission into Tribhuvan University three years ago, and amidst student paraphernalia in notebooks, photocopied classroom notes, and rizla papers, the ragged bag never failed to contain Camus’s The Myth of Sisyphus. He sat cross-legged on the stone steps and took small bites off a cob...
