We've finally got a "NEW" sneak peek at Fenriz on the drum kit, and let me tell you, it's a treat! While we know that Darkthrone's style is all about the raw, lo-fi black metal vibe, when you listen to their 1991 album "Soulside Journey", you'll be blown away by Fenriz's technical drumming skills... The grooves are infectious, the fills are sick, and the overall rhythmic mastery is simply impressive.

It's like a breath of fresh air amidst the typical Black Metal chaos. We can only hope that Fenriz will consider revisiting this style in a new musical project - we know he's got so much more to give!

This early gem is a masterclass in contrast, blending the most aggressive and distorted riffs with melodic keyboards that create a sonic tapestry like no other.

The production may be rough around the edges, but that's what makes this album so refreshingly raw and honest. The guitars scream and snarl, while the keyboards wail and weep, creating a cacophony that's both beautiful and brutal.

Desert Northern Hell by Tsjuder is described as a relentless and merciless sonic assault. From the opening track "Malignant Coronation" to the final moments of "Morbid Lust," the band introduces us their unforgiving style... While comparisons to other black metal acts like Darkthrone, Burzum, and Emperor may be drawn, Tsjuder manages to carve their unique identity with fast, crushing sounds and dose of melodies.

Lyrically, the album explores themes of Fiction, insanity, and winter, presented with tight writing that stands out among its genre. The album's highlights, "Possessed" and "Mouth of Madness," showcase the band's ability to create evil melodies. The latter track, in particular, starts with a trashy vibe before unleashing a horrifyingly amazing melody that will leave you spellbounded.

Emperor's sophomore album, "Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk," shows the band's progressive and innovative approach to black metal. With the addition of drummer Trym Torson and bassist Alver, Emperor reaches new heights of musicianship, originality, and brilliance. The album's unique "wall of sound" is created by an intricate blend of overpowering guitar and keyboard layers, setting the stage for a complex listening experience.

The album opens with the unique intro, "Al Svartr (The Oath)," which features all instruments and vocals, along with various sound effects. This atmospheric introduction Opens for the intense and dynamic tracks that follow. "Ye Entrancemperium" shows the band's technical prowess, with fast-paced guitar riffs, complex drum patterns, and Ihsahn's improved clean and aggressive vocals.

"Thus Spake the Nightspirit" is a more intricate arrangement, with layers of guitars and occasional keyboards creating an aggressive yet melodic sound. "Ensorcelled by Khaos" features memorable riffs and a slow, majestic finale, while "The Loss and Curse of Reverence" offers a feast of riffs and variations.

"The Acclamation of Bonds" is a forgotten masterpiece, with great guitar intros, riffs, and a different atmosphere. Lastly, "With Strength I Burn" is an immense epic that shows the band's lyrical prowess and emotional depth. The album is rounded off with the short but enchanting outro, "The Wanderer."

The re-released version includes three additional tracks from the "Reverence" EP, which fit well with the album's overall theme. While the live version of "The Loss and Curse of Reverence" has a poor sound quality, it still demonstrates Emperor's ability to perform complex material in a live setting.

Almost entirely responsible for the record's compositions, save for the lyrics by Demonaz, Abbath's influence can be felt throughout the album. His innovative approach to riffing and guitar work brings a fresh sense of songwriting to black metal...

The melodic aspect of the album is constructed through soaring guitar riffs, which are incrementally built over various riff changes and time signatures. This results in a dynamic listening experience, where each song feels like a unique journey. For instance, the opening track "Withstand the Fall of Time" proves this perfectly, as it transitions through multiple riffs before returning to its central theme.

The musicianship is both melodic and brutal, with the guitar work being particularly noteworthy. Unlike some Black Metal bands that rely heavily on repeating the same four chords, Taake's guitarist showcases their skill and creativity throughout the album.

The musical spectrum displayed in 'Hordaland Doedskvad' is especially impressive considering it comes from the Norwegian Black Metal scene, which has often been criticized for replicating Darkthrone's style. Taake manages to break free from these constraints, offering listeners a fresh and captivating experience.

Diabolical Age by Ragnarok, Stands as their best work yet.. A Captivating Classical Piece.. The unique guitar tone may take some time to adjust to, but it adds an unparalleled depth to the melodies. Keyboards are used to clear up these melodies, and despite initial reservations, they eventually enhance the overall experience..

The vocals are raw and intense, showcasing the artist's unhinged dedication to the dark themes. The drumming, provided by Jontho, is exceptional, with a distinctive approach that blends traditional black metal elements with unexpected rhythms, creating an unforgettable auditory journey. The bass, while not overly prominent, complements the overall sound with its occasional intricate solos and solid foundation.

The instrumental "Postludium" is an emotional finale, featuring a beautiful piano-driven composition that serves as a powerful reminder of the album's intensity. This album has immense replay value and is a must-have for any Ragnarok fan...

Ave Everyone, Today I share my views about Gorgoroth's "Under the Sign of Hell" album, particularly the 2011 re-recording. While acknowledging the original version, I found the re-recording to be superior due to its modern production, clearer sound, and improved musicianship.

The album is a masterpiece of Norwegian black metal, featuring a unique blend of aggression, melancholy, and atmospheric elements. Its riffs are diverse and complex, showcasing Infernus's talent as a songwriter.

Lyrically, it stays true to Gorgoroth style of lyrics, exploring themes of Satanism, darkness, and anti-Christian sentiments. Overall, this album holds a special place in my heart...

The Underworld Regime album is a true "Nice Try" that showcases the outstanding efforts of Shagrath and King.. .

What's particularly intriguing me, is the connection to the late Gorgoroth albums, which this album seems to evoke. It leaves us pondering whether King, who appears to have been the main composer during his time with Gorgoroth, played a significant role in shaping the band's sound.

Although we may have failed to pay tribute to him early, we come together now to celebrate his life and contributions to the world of music.

Euronymous, the co-founder of the iconic band Mayhem, played a crucial role in shaping the Norwegian black metal scene.
