In 2018, the former members of Sylvium decided to start working on a new project. Two years later, the new group My Arrival released their first album "Satur9 & Indigo". The musicians of this new formation have set themselves a goal: The intention to write music from a different angle from what they had done before, shorter and accessible songs, without losing any of their intensity and progressive roots . "Satur9 & Indigo" is a rather dark concept album that tells the melancholy story of a heart-warming man on a dying planet, desperate to find a new home.
Musical genre question, My Arrival immerses us here, in the regions of progressive rock close to combos like those of Gazpacho, Marillion, but adding a hint of muscle. The melodies are terribly catchy, the arrangements are fine and precise, nothing here will scratch your fragile eardrums.
The album starts on an enigmatic intro "Ending Theme" of 1:54 minutes, a rather synthetic and planing music where arises on the end a narrative voice, a composition which does not bode well, I assure you, the rest of the ten other beaches. The following title "Gone" will light your lantern a little more, it alone sums up the style of this excellent training. A mid-tempo composition that explores a territory that is terribly trivialized, but which manages to give us the indefinable pleasure that we all seek and which is offered to us here in a masterful way by the quality of its melody. But the best is yet to come, and the Strange Machine ballad best illustrates the success of the concept. While staying true to the progressive line that My Arrival has set for itself, it could be a hit in the making, it sends a refrain that will be imprinted in your brains for a long time.
Among the remaining compositions, I would particularly highlight Twilight Beauty's "Come Undone", the instrumental "Failure of a Grand Design" dominated by the mesmerizing chords of a dismal piano and the diaphanous "Close your Eyes". Without forgetting "Home" which floods us with its benevolent waves and which closes this opus magnificently.
The musicians deliver us for this "Satur9 & Indigo" an exceptional performance, but it is especially Richard de Geest who through his song, powerful and melodic, takes compositions to the next level. My Arrival gives us with this first publication an excellent album, very rich and wonderfully balanced!
