You will find us at stand number C33. The Hiswa in Water Boat Show takes place from 28 August to 1 September in Lelystad, the Netherlands.

The Enksail Orion 49 is a go-anywhere cruiser explorer sailing yacht. Like all our Enksail Yachts, this Orion 49 is semi-custom built. This means that the client has a lot of influence on the equipment, interior layout and styling.

This Enksail Orion 49 was built for Canadian couple Paul and Sheryl Shard of Distant Shores, well known for their sailing videos on television and YouTube. The functional pilothouse with enough visibility to keep watch from inside during sea voyages, combined with the many custom options, was the reason for Paul and Sheryl to have an Enksail Orion 49 built: An aluminium sailing yacht that made it possible to fulfill the demands of their ongoing global adventures.

It has become a richly equipped vessel including hybrid propulsion, electrically operated sails, a hydraulically operated keel and an arch with solar panels. We welcome you to come aboard and take a look during the Hiswa te Water Boat Show. Tickets can be ordered at: https://www.hiswatewater.nl/

Never before have we had so many different Enksail sailing yachts under construction at the same time as we have now: the Enksail Halcyon 50, the Enksail Noordkaper 43 and twice the Enksail Orion 49. The sailing yachts are semi-custom built so the styling and layout is designed to the client(s)' wishes. This makes every Enksail Yacht unique.

𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐟𝐭𝐡 𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐭; 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐧𝐤𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟒𝟗. 🥂

Paul and Sheryl, hosts of Distant Shores, welcome their fifth sailboat; the Enksail Orion 49. Fans from all over the world were there to witness the boat christening of the Distant Shores IV.

During the day, their sailing yacht was available for anyone who wanted to take a look aboard. Also present was the Socius which is the very first Orion 49. The rainy weather did not stop visitors from attending the event.

In the evening we enjoyed a festive program which began with the official christening of Distant Shores IV. It was extra special because the ship was christened by the sister of the 'Gebroeders' ('Brothers'); Flora Visser. 🍾 After Paul poured the champagne overboard, they were wished a 'behouden vaart' by Flora, which translates to 'safe journeys'.

Then the celebrations could begin! We enjoyed a delicious buffet and ended the evening with a presentation by Paul and Sheryl. Overall we look back on a special day.

Like Paul and Sheryl, we are proud of the Enksail Orion 49. We could not have done it without all of our team members. So thank you so much to everyone who worked on the yacht!

Last Thursday we launched the Enksail Orion 49 and we are so happy! In the coming weeks we will be working hard to complete the Distant Shores IV.

To look at a yacht design on paper is one thing, but to see the contours form for the first time is certainly astonishing. This morning, the client of the Enksail Orion 49 saw the aluminum hull under construction. Such a first look remains a special moment and for us as well.

We currently have several Enksails under construction, including the Enksail Orion 49. This time the sailing yacht is for a Dutch client.

The pictures show how the hull builders are welding together the frames and working on the keel box for the hydraulic keel.

The Enksail Orion 49 under construction will be richly equipped and will be fitted with hybrid propulsion.

To make our yachts more recognizable, we have designed a sail mark with a nice reference to the logo of Gebroeders van Enkhuizen. All Enksail sailing yachts will have this sign in the mainsail so that the Enksail Halcyon, Enksail Orion and Enksail Noordkaper are also easily recognizable when under sail.

The building of the first Enksail Halcyon has begun! 🔩 The aluminium has been cut and shaped, and the first contours of the various parts are becoming visible. It is becoming immediately clear that it will be a robust cruiser.

The Enksail Halcyon has been under constant development over the past year and we are happy to be building the first yacht now. It is a true cruiser with a lot of volume and a large deckhouse, which is ideal for long stays and great trips. 🌎 Like the other Enksail sailing yachts, this aluminium yacht will be semi custom-built.

The sailing yacht which is now under construction will have a hybride propulsion, variable draft and will be richly equipped with the technology for the safest and most comfortable stay on board. This seminar is designed for anyone planning to buy a cruising sailboat and wanting to learn more about aluminum sailboats. The seminar will begin with a tour of the Shards' new Enksail Orion 49, Distant Shores IV, now in the final stages of build. The tour will be conducted by the Shards and Enksail Yachts, General Manager, Ronald van Enkhuizen. The method of build will be shown and explained, systems and features of the boat will be discussed.
The Shards, who have been cruising internationally for 34 years, will then do a presentation about the build history of Distant Shores IV and discuss their reasons for going with an aluminum sailboat, what customizations they have made, the process of finding a builder, choosing options and working with a boat builder.

The Enksail Noordkaper magazine is now also online available! In 2001, the first Enksail NK was deliverd. The model proved timeless. It is a ship with a future, but also with a history and wonderful stories. In honour of 20 years Enksail Noordkaper, we released a magazine in 2021. In this magazine you will find stories from owners, as well as information about the model and building process.

Last week, the hull of a new Enksail Noordkaper 43 arived at our yard. This Enksail Noordkaper 43 is being built for a customer from the USA. The hull was built by Zwijnenburg Yachting. The yacht will be completed at our yard in Makkum.

We will open our doors for the Enksail Orion Experience on Saturday 2 September from 10 am. 🛟 And we have great news! This day, the suppliers of the electric propulsion on board the Enksail Orion - Super B and Combi E-propulsion systems - will be represented. They will be able to answer all your questions about hybrid propulsion.

Combi E-propulsion systems is the supplier of the electric motor. This choice was made because of the motor’s multifunctional application: it also regenerates power (during sailing, the electric motor becomes a dynamo). Super B is the manufacturer of the batteries. They are known for their powerful, reliable and lightweight batteries.

This week, the Enksail Orion 49 was moved from the metal shop to our yard. The final work on the hull is currently being carried out. Next stop: the paint shop!

𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐘𝐀𝐂𝐇𝐓𝐒 - 𝐄𝐧𝐤𝐬𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐜𝐲𝐨𝐧 🪶

"Could I also have the Enksail Noordkaper built in aluminum?" We get this question quite often. In principle, this isn't possible because the Noordkaper was originally designed as a yacht built in steel. Were you to build the same hull from aluminum, a lot of lead would have to be applied to get the ship to its waterline. The result would be what's called a "nervous boat".

The new aluminum Enksail Halcyon is our answer. In this design, first of all, we took all the positive things from the Enksail Noordkaper. For example, the functional pilothouse, a centerboard keel and a fixed high railing all around.

Secondly, we included all our experience together with customer feedback. For example, we are often told that there is a need for cooking with a view. The Enksail Halcyon makes it is possible to place the galley in the pilothouse. There even is a sinking window in the back of the pilothouse to create a connection between the galley and the life in the cockpit. Not only in the pilothouse, but also below deck there is sufficient light through big ports and large windows in the hull. A bed with ocean view? The Enksail makes it possible.

A complete range has been developed from 45 to 80 feet.
