THE GALLOWS POLE - TITLE SEQUENCE Motion designer Ed Kevill-Davies collaborated with Shane Meadows to create the title sequence for the Director’s highly anticipated first period drama, The Gallows Pole. The three-part BBC series transports us into the desperate world of David Hartley (Michael Socha) and the Cragg Vale Coiners, counterfeiters fighting for the survival of their community against the backdrop of the coming industrial revolution in 18th century Yorkshire.

Ed’s titles follow Hartley across the Moors, tailed by six mythical stag men who, in the series, guide Hartley’s actions through a series of hellishly bleak visions, snippets of which are glimpsed here. The title sequence also provides historical context around events in the series via fictionalised newspaper headlines, whilst showing us the post-apocalyptic scenes from Hartley’s potential future.

To fully bring life (or the opposite…) to Meadows’ detailed and grim vision for the sequence, Ed experimented with Midjourney, harnessing the AI tool to generate an initial world of bleak and abominable imagery which was further honed and manipulated in the studio. The final kaleidoscopic college is a fusion of folk-rock and psychedelia inspired visuals that convey the bleak and destructive nature of Hartley’s existence.

Colour grading and picture finishing for the series was completed by Paul Harrison and Owen Hulme at Residence Pictures, part of the Coffee & TV Group.

Hyderabad Design Week The core theme for the video was 'Humanising Design', how design plays an integral role in our day to day lives and how it is constantly evolving around our lives. To make the visuals look contemporary and innovative we came up with an interesting concept where every experience looks distinct from each other.

It was a challenge to explore different styles since design in itself is as big as the universe and to find a specific style which would go along with the entire video was a fun task which we were very excited about. After some brainstorming sessions and finding multiple references for our style scapes we locked down distinct styles which we finally see in the film.

The end sequence was the most interesting part of the film to design and animate. We decided to reveal the word "Design', by creating 54 frames that made it look intensive and give that adrenalin rush.

Music and sound design was also a crucial part of the entire film since it elevates the film to another level. Since the visuals were so engaging and dynamic we wanted to compose a track which would be upbeat and progressive until we reveal the word "Design'

The idea behind the film was to showcase different styles of design, textures and patterns all interspersed within the spoken word that would link each visual element
to sustainable design, while holding the narrative together. With the constant evolution of graphic styles, the idea was to take the viewer on a journey to explore various
design forms like 2d and 3d animation along with some fun live action shots, to make the messaging of the narrative more comprehensible.

NSS Exquisite Co**se Inspired by the recent move to our new Sydney studio, we made our very own animated exquisite co**se to celebrate the momentous occasion.

With 16 team members including designers, illustrators, animators, 3D artists, editors, and compositors, we gave ourselves the opportunity to draw on the diverse breadth of talent in our studio.

This was an awesome opportunity for us to collaborate with each other on a fun project, and demonstrate the wide array of talents of the Never Sit Still team.

The game began by each team member designing a static frame that would go at the end of their soon to be animated sequence. All the designed frames were then shuffled together and redistributed so that every member received a mystery starting frame designed by someone else on the team.

Then the animation began, with everyone working on their 3-4s segments in isolation. For the final reveal, everyone’s animations were stitched together with original music and sound design from our audio partners, Smith & Western Sound.

Duet — Sussex Over the past couple of years, we worked closely with Australian tap manufacturer Sussex to create a series of 3D films and bring to life some of their great designs and pieces. Adding the meaningful thought and process behind each one of them and showcasing it in the most elegant and beautiful way. This is Duet.

"Duet is about the harmony between time and form." — Sussex Taps

Following the above, we’ve split the film in a passage of time — going from dusk to dawn.
The film starts at the soft dusk lighting and transition to the dawn warm light. It speaks metaphorically about time, throughout distortion of material and the passage of moment.

The first part, in soft dusk light, we celebrate the formation of the tap with the organic forms of the metal taking the full screen to show organicity and fluidity. We transition into the warm light, and at this point we focus on movement, product and some grains as well.
Ultimately, we finish our film with the products being set at the warm sunrise scene.

Tag Heuer once again teamed up with Frame to create a film that celebrates the release of the new Monaco Skeleton. The key creative objective was to highlight the beautiful design and function of the LumiNova dial, whilst revealing the unique skeletal case. The film incorporates a series of blue neon tubes, often combined in a sculptural constellation, providing a vivid background to the timepiece whilst conveying the speed and dynamics of modern racing.
