Throw Back Thursday: Northern Nigeria,1959, Premier of Northern Nigeria, Sir Ahmadu Bello, urges female students to learn to read.

In May 1956, Sir Ahmadu Bello created the Queen Elizabeth Secondary School, Ilorin, as the first female college in the North, in order to promote female education.

On November 21, 1957, the school welcomed its first students, a total of 54.
