APC STUDENTS WING BAYELSA STATE CHAPTER PASS A VOTE OF CONFIDENCE TO H.E. CHIEF TIMIPRE MARLIN SYLVA FOR GOVERNOR COME 11TH NOVEMBER, 2023.
The Okpoma born refined politician is an asset to Bayelsa, born on July 7, 1964, a sterling former Governor of our dear state, and who has served as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources in Nigeria, is whom the state needs his development prowess to be completely repositioned for growth.
It is a known fact that, Timipre Marlin Sylva believes in profound development, thus, as former Governor of Bayelsa State, he performed creditably with numerous milestone projects; including 52 link Roads, over 8,000 Youth Jobs, a New Law School Campus, Residential Estates for Commissioners, a College of Education and the Establishment of Basic Schools Across Communities.
As Bayelsans, it is time we rally round a creative thinker like Timipre Sylva, in 2019, when he was appointed Minister of State for Petroleum Resources by the President of Nigeria, the fresh breed and workaholic Minister of State for Petroleum made faint strides in the oil and gas sector, he contributed immensely to the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), which defied over two decades of passage difficulties and also the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) that led to the incorporation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), the establishment of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), the Nigerian Midstream and b Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), and the commencement of the rehabilitation of the phase 1 of the PortHarcourt Refinery.
On records, during the administration of Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva as Governor of Bayelsa State, the students community had enjoyed an annual payment of bursary and awards of free scholarship to study abroad. Sadly, since Timipre Sylva left office in 2012, No Free Scholarship, No Payment of Bursary, and the very best this current administration could offer to students was the High Increment of School Fees in our Higher Institutions, all in the disguise of a higher education loan scheme.
As a brilliant graduate of Bachelor of Arts with distinction from University of PortHarcourt, who also received a valedictorian as the best graduating student, Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva knows the rudiments of education and will prioritize on the gains of our educational system.
This is a time to work with an industrialist. As Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, in 2020, he inaugurated the 'National Gas Expansion Programme' as a mechanism to boost the utilization of 'Nigerian Natural Gas Resources', and also launched the 'Nigerian Gas Transport Code', which would in turn boost infrastructure and development of the Nigerian gas sector.
It is gain saying, Sylva's time as Minister attracted over $3.6B of investments into Bayelsa State according to statistics from the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council (NIPC), coming behind Lagos State in 2021 alone, which in turn will further bolstering Bayelsa's competitiveness with other states of the federation.
As a thinker and doer, H.E. Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva's administration was the first to introduce the Bayelsa Stimulus Scheme (BSS) for quality transportation system in the state during his time as Governor. Today, the story is different as popular Tricycles (KEKE NA PEP) have taken over the roads of Bayelsa State because his successors have myopic attitude to sustainable development.
Dear Bayelsa Students, it is time to take our destiny and shape it with a clear direction by rallying round a leader with clarity of purpose, plan and responsibility. That leader is Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva. He's one bright gift from God Almighty to Bayelsans, one with the technical know how to improve the state economy through programmes and infrastructural developments that will in turn create the needed jobs for our youths across the state.
H.E. Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva during his first tenure as Governor creatively established 'Peace Park', an amusement park, to meet the recreational needs of Bayelsans and to boost tourism. Undoubtedly, this creative initiative attracted thousands of people, who visited the park for relaxation, fun-fare and site seeing.
The clarion call for all Bayelsa Students is to join hands with Chief Timipre Marlin Sylva to reposition our dear state to the path of sustainable development. Come 11th November, 2023, let us vote massively for a man who is dead to the development of our dear state, the glory of all lands.
