Le Zimbabwe reçoit 8 millions de $ pour développer son élevage porcin et caprin

L’Union européenne (UE) a débloqué 7,3 millions de livres soit 8 millions $ au profit de l’amélioration de l’élevage porcin et caprin au Zimbabwe. Cette enveloppe permettra de soutenir 56 000 éleveurs de porcins et 800 000 producteurs de caprins d’ici 2023.

D’après George Mudanza, président de l’Association nationale des producteurs de porcs, ce programme s’étendra sur tout le territoire et devrait booster la chaîne de valeur du porc. « Je confirme la réception de 8 millions $ de l’UE pour l’amélioration de la production de viande et d’autres sous-produits d’élevage. Les activités sont en cours au niveau national », indique Georges Mudanza.

Pour rappel, l’élevage est la branche la plus importante de la production agricole du Zimbabwe. Les ventes de bétail et de produits animaux fournissent près de 35 % du PIB agricole selon les données de l’Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC).
