Man kills his mom, cuts off her head and buried her in a shallow grave in Enugu

A young man, identified as Chukwudi Chukwu, has been declared wanted by the police in Enugu State, for allegedly killing his mom in Achi town, Oji-River LGA of the state.

According to multiple reports, after killing his mom on Sunday, March 21, 2021, the suspect was said to have chopped off her head and buried her co**se in a shallow grave inside their compound.

It’s unclear what led him to commit the crime, but the police has exhumed the body of the deceased and declared the suspect wanted, as he’s said to be on the run.

Court jails UNICAL Professor for manipulating election results for APC

A High Court in Akwa-Ibom State, on Thursday, March 25, sentenced a professor of soil science at the University of Calabar, Peter Ogban, to three years in prison for fraudulent manipulation of election results.

Mr Ogban was the returning officer in the senatorial election in Akwa Ibom North-West in 2019. He was also accused of publishing and announcing false results in two Local Government Areas – Oruk Anam and Etim Ekpo.

He was prosecuted at a State High Court in Ikot Ekpene by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The court found him guilty of altering the results of the election to favour the All Progressives Congress (APC) against its main rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a previous court session, Ogban had told the court how the results of the election were falsified to give the APC an unfair advantage over PDP.

Godswill Akpabio, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, was the APC candidate in the election. He was seeking a return to the Senate after he defected from the PDP. The PDP’s candidate, Chris Ekpenyong, a former deputy governor in Akwa Ibom State, defeated Mr Akpabio in the election which was gripped by pockets of violence.

Groom reveals why he married fiancée of late brother one month after his death

A groom in Kaduna State, Sulaiman Muhammad, has explained why he married the fiancée of his elder brother Abubakar, an air force officer who died two weeks to his wedding.

Sulaiman who got married to Hajara Ahmad on Saturday, March 20, told BBC pidgin that the family of the bride had sent a message to his family informing them of the bride's interest in him.

According to him, “Abubakar was my immediate elder brother and I loved him very much. His death still hurts me so much. What happened was that, after his death, the fiancée’s family sent a message to my family. And the message is that the lady said she likes me and instead of calling off the wedding that was just three weeks away, it would be better I replace my brother, and today we are husband and wife.

I had a girlfriend but this thing that happened is destiny and I am glad that my ex-girlfriend accepted it the way it is. Both families are in support of what we did and that is the most important thing.
My friend showed me some of the comments on social media but I'm not moved at all because God has already blessed our wedding. It rained on our wedding day to show God's blessings.”

Recall that Abubakar was killed during a gun duel with armed bandits at Ungwan Laya near Birnin Gwari on Saturday, February 13.

A lady, identified as Fatima Ibrahim, has reportedly been burnt to death by her husband's first wife in Minna, Niger State.

The tragic incident happened on Tuesday, March 23, 2020, about fifty days after her wedding.

The jealous first wife was said to have gone to Fatima's house and beaten her to pulp before locking her up inside her room and setting it on fire, burning her to death. The deceased will be buried today.

HUSBAND STRANGLES WIFE TO DEATH IN HER SLEEP AS DAUGHTER NARRATES HER ORDEAL

A middle-aged man, identifed simply as Gbenro has strangled his wife, Wayeṣọla, to death. The unfortunate incident happened at Salvation Army Street, Odojọmu, Ondo State, between 5-6 am.

According to information gathered, a five-year-old daughter of the deceased, Fayọkẹ, witnessed how her mother was killed. She narrated that she saw her father strangling her mother when she got up to ease herself but couldn’t do anything because her father threatened to kill her.

It was however her cry for help that attracted neighbours, who got there after the woman was already dead. Neighbours, who ran to the scene, called the deceased brother but locked the man indoors to stop him from escaping.
