'Yesterday, I Saw A Letter From the Bank Offering to Give Us N150 Billion, & I Was Laughing' -Wike

The Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, has revealed that since the president removed them from the Single Treasury Account (TSA), banks have been putting pressure on them, pointing out that he laughed yesterday when he saw a letter from the bank offering to give them N150 billion.

In a video posted by TVC, Wike revealed that it takes political leadership and political will to pull out of the TSA in order to leverage the finances of FCT.

According to him, "I can tell you, since the president removed us from the Single Treasury account, I can tell you the amount of pressure that banks have been putting here. Yesterday, I saw a letter from the bank offering to give us N150 billion. I was laughing. I've not even made any request to the national assembly; they're now, that is to tell you. And it takes leadership, political leadership, and political will to have seen the merits of pulling out of this in order for you to leverage our finances to develop FCT."

ORDER ON REVOCATION OF ABUJA PLOTS: WIKE GIVES CHURCHES, MOSQUES ADDITIONAL WAIVER

FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory FCT, Nyesom Wike, has extended the ‘develop or revoke’ order issued religious organizations in the territory, saying they would be granted additional time instead of the earlier three-month blanket notice handed all institutions.

Wike had last month issued a three-month grace for owners of 189 undeveloped plots to commence work or risk revocation.

Speaking on Wednesday when he received the Board of the National Mosque, led by its Chairman, the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, the minister said the Administration was extending the ultimatum to religious groups since they largely depend on freewill donations from members.

The delegation was at the FCTA to seek clarification on the status of its plot 63, where they were directed to halt development during the construction of the Outer Southern Express way.

He explained that work was due to start on the plot located opposite the Yar’Adua Center before a ‘stop work’ notice was issued to the management of the mosque.

The board also used the opportunity to seek for support to complete the ongoing renovation of the FCT National Mosque, which was being carried out by the Federal Capital Development Authority, FCDA, before the inauguration of President Tinubu’s administration.

He pointed that the National Mosque was recognised as a national monument by President Olusegun Obasanjo, who initiated a fund raiser for its renovation.

However, on plot 99, the royal father said the plot has been getting the right attention as the council has obtained a building plan approval to begin development soon.

Responding, the FCT Minister said that the revocation order issued to owners of abandoned projects and plots was not targeted at any individual or groups, but rather to change the landscape of the territory and to discourage criminals from hibernating in them.

He said; “In order to fight crime, and change the land scape of the city, we will not allow uncompleted buildings, therefore those who gave theirs, go now and start completing. We know the finances of religious groups, they are handicap as they are not business people, and it is only when people come to support them.

“In such areas, we can say on religious grounds, instead of three months, we can give additional time but it is not targeted at anybody or group. Now you have come and explained, which reasonable man would not accept it. So our people should stop saying he is targeting so group or religion or ethnic group, no, it is for the interest of all of us.

“We will extend it, so we will not restrict it to three months for you, as a religious group, because there is no money as people come to support you. And it is only when they support that you can carry out whatever you are doing.”

Wike, also used the opportunity to clarify the controversies around the alleged demolition of a mosque in Rivers state while he served as governor of the state.

The minister said the allegation was a political move spread by his opponents as no Mosque was demolished during his tenure as governor.

All the Senators of the 10th Senate will move to Akwa Ibom State on, October 19, 2023 for a four-day retreat

“We are moving the Senate all the way to Akwa Ibom for the next four days.”

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday, October 18, shortly after an audience with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential villa, Abuja, said that the President needs to be informed that the Senate will not be available in Abuja.

He said that after the four-day retreat in Akwa Ibom, he will personally travel to Angola to attend the international parliamentary union.

“So, before he sees me, it will take probably another nine days. So, I needed to inform him.

“I came to inform the President of the first 10th Assembly retreat which is taking place tomorrow in Akwa Ibom State and also to solicit his support towards ensuring representation at the retreat and he has graciously done that.

“I told him some of the things we are going to discuss – tax reform and ways of ensuring the generation of revenue for him to work for Nigerians.”

On the conflicts in the Senate, Akpabio said that there was no cause for concern, saying that one cannot rule out disagreement in parliamentary interactions.

“We are all working in one accord. There is no problem at all. Even if some people disagree on some of the happenings in the Senate, still, it is only the majority decision that is going to prevail.

“Parliament is like that. But we will never get to a point of throwing chairs. “We will never get to that point. The senate is too mature, full of matured people, so, if we have a disagreement, we immediately go into a closed session, resolve it and come out smiling. “We are politicians; no permanent hatred but permanent interest.

“That interest is the interest of the nation: to support the President, support his administration in legislation, oversight functions, to succeed, in order to move the country forward and that is what we have been doing and that is what we are committed to doing.”

The Pastor Who Invited Me To Preach In His Church, Kidnapped Me || Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpa.

I was invited by a church in Aba. We went. They took me to their bedroom and kept my wife in their parlour. And they asked me to bring every money on me and the key to my car.

So, I told the pastor of the church; so you invited a guess speaker, locked him up, collect his money and the key to his car. I will give you the key when I hear God say surrender the key and the money to them and I will give it to you. But for now, I will not.

They said no problem. We'll give you a cup to drink from and you will hear God tell you to give us the key to your car and the money on you.

I said, "sure, bring the liquid(poison), let me drink". They brought me a liquid and I said to the liquid, ''thou liquid(poison), I drink you as tea and you must function as tea. If you go beyond the boundaries of tea, whatever God is going to do to you, don't call my name".

I raised the cup up and said, "thou cup, you are now tea.."

I watched them till it got to midnight. I said to them, "it's now my turn to demonstrate the power of the kingdom I represent. You have given me something and I have taken it.

They ran to my wife; madam... come come come, oga is angry, he wants to kill us.

My wife walked over to where I was and said, "you like trouble. They have open that gate, let us go".

Madam..who is causing trouble? Me or they? I came to preach for them, they lock me up, they want money, they want key. Who is the one breaking the law? Me or these people? She said, "na u sabi".

And they began to beg me.... I like when my enemy beg me for their life to be spared.

EL-RUFAI DARES BUHARI, SAYS ALL OLD NOTES REMAIN LEGAL TENDER IN KADUNA.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State has dared President Muhammadu Buhari on the naira redesign policy, saying the old notes remain legal tender in the state.

In his national broadcast early Thursday, Buhari had declared that old N500 and N1000 were no longer valid

He had asked Nigerians to take them to the Central Bank and designated places.

But in his statewide address on Thursday night, El-Rufai said the notes remain legal tender until Supreme Court of Nigeria decides otherwise.

“For the avoidance of doubt, all the old and new notes shall remain in use as legal tender in Kaduna State until the Supreme Court of Nigeria decides otherwise.

“I therefore appeal to all residents of Kaduna State to continue to use the old and new notes side by side without any fear. The Kaduna State Government and its agencies shall seal any facility that refuses to accept the old notes as legal tender and prosecute the owners.

“If need be, we shall take further consequential actions according to the law. The address by the President earlier this morning limiting the legal tender status of old notes to only N200 amounts to total disregard and disobedience of the ruling of February 8th which was extended further yesterday by the Supreme Court.

“The misguided action of the Attorney-General to mislead the President into engaging in this public violation of the order of the highest court of the land shows how desperate the policy architects are to cause national chaos, by showing open contempt for the judiciary.

“The decision to recognise only N200 as legal tender till April that the President announced this morning was offered to the state governments as part of proposals for an out-of-court settlement three days ago.

“The Federal Government asserted that this was offered because all the ‘old’ N1,000 and N500 notes had been destroyed. We rejected the offer and proved to the officials that not a single higher denomination note had been destroyed.

“We also believe that circulating N200 only to be inadequate in alleviating the suffering that we see every day. We insisted that all the components of the Supreme Court order should be complied with,” he said.
